Mr Gcobani Mangcotywa, Regional General Manager, Asia Pacific region, South African Airline

South African Airways based in Hong Kong responsible for growing SAA’s revenue in Asia Pacific Region with a key focus in Mainland China, India and Australia as priority growth markets • Prior to this role he was employed as Executive Head of Strategy, Analytics and Marketing for Corporate Banking at Nedbank and an Exco member. His key responsibilities include co ordination of development and implementation of divisional 3 year strategic plan and the market positioning of the Bank in the Corporate market space • Prior to this role he was employed by FirstRand Bank for approximately five years. He held various roles – with his last role of a Senior Business Development Executive at FNB Corporate Banking. Prior to this role he held the role of Segment Head: Public Sector Banking and later promoted to the CEO for the National Government business unit of the division. • Prior to this role, he was SAA’s General Manager for Africa and the Middle East • Prior to this role he was SAA’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand based in Sydney for a period of 3 years • He holds extensive experience in Commercial Banking and Airline business over a combined period of 15 years as well as international experience based in Sydney and Hong Kong . He has managed large teams of over 100 people with revenue budget of over R2 billion per annum. Academically, he holds the following qualifications: Masters Degree in Public & Development Management (majoring in Macro Economics); Post Graduate Diploma in Management (majoring in strategic management & analytics), Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Economics & Commercial law) and a Post Graduate diploma in Financial Management. He is currently registered for an MSC in International Economics with the University of London. Some of his key achievements include: • Appointed as SAA’s 1st Chief Representative for Mainland China • Successfully established and launched SAA operations in Mainland China (Beijing) • Successfully restructured SAA organisation in Asia Pacific positioning the business for growth • Turned around the loss making Australia operation into a profitable business as the Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand based in Sydney • Lead a team that successfully negotiated an innovative joint venture with an Indian Company that resulted in a turnaround of the loss making India operations • Achieved a double digit growth in successive years as a General Manager for Africa and the Middle East Region • Establishing and growing First National Bank’s National Government business unit delivering transactional banking and lending solutions to the Public sector • Candidate’s team at FNB won the most innovative awards aimed at delivering operational efficiencies to the Unemployment Insurance fund(UIF) while CEO at First National Bank’s Public Sector Banking Unit • Lead a team that developed a joint venture that positioned First National Bank for a R450 million income per month tender business • Lead a team that was nominated as a preferred bidder for a R20 million per month Department of Justice tender business for delivering collection and payment solutions • Lead a team that won more than 10 new major accounts for First National Bank’s Public Sector Banking Division • Won 3 major Corporate accounts for First National Bank’s Corporate Banking Division within a period of less than a year • Successfully established Nedbank’s Strategy & Analytics unit within the Corporate Banking Division and introduced a new client selecting and targeting approach enhancing provision of lending, transactional and investment banking solutions to JSE listed companies and multinationals
