Cerebricon Ltd., a member of the Charles River Discovery Services family since 2009, is a leading contract research organization focused in the area of specialized and customized preclinical disease models of the Central Nervous System (CNS) and Peripheral Nervous System (PNS). Cerebricon’s preclinical modeling platform, which includes small animal models for neurology and psychiatry, biomarkers and biomedical imaging, are employed as tools for the establishment of preclinical proof-of-concept.
As with its parent company, Charles River, Cerebricon’s staff of scientists, pharmacologists and technicians are expert in the development and refining of models aimed at studying drugs and therapies with orphan disease indications such as Huntington’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Models for conditions such as spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury are also routinely performed with the facility support and scientific expertise required for the study of all non-clinical aspects of the disease from the molecular to functional and behavioral levels.
All of Cerebricon’s services are performed in their proprietary laboratories by its experienced staff of 65 neuroscientists, surgeons and technicians. The fully accredited facility includes functional and behavioral laboratories, facilities for in vivo surgeries, an in vitro cell culture laboratory (including facilities and instrumentation for the handling and administration of stem cells), dedicated small animal imaging (MRI), radiolabelling, PET/SPECT as well as molecular biology, histological and immunohistochemistry laboratories.
