Jonathan Metcalfe took up the post of CEO of Veolia Transport Australasia in December 2009 having served as Executive Chairman of Veolia Transport’s metropolitan rail business in Melbourne (CML) from January 2008.
With extensive experience in passenger transport and a diverse background in human resources, customer services and general management, Jonathan is leading the Veolia Transport team to grow its presence in Australasia through acquisitions, organic growth and new business activities.
His aim is to transform Veolia Transport into Australasia’s acknowledged leader in managing mobility solutions. This will be achieved by putting customers first, remaining a trusted partner with government and private company clients, and further developing a high performance workforce and culture.
Jonathan works in close cooperation with the other Veolia Environnement businesses in Australia to provide services to governments, private companies and local communities.
Jonathan is a graduate member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and relocated to Australia from the UK with his wife and two teenage children.
Prior to coming to Melbourne Jonathan was Chief Executive Officer of Great North Eastern Railway (GNER), the award winning, high speed long distance railway connecting London and Scotland along the East Coast of the United Kingdom.
