Mohamed Saro is the Director of The International Customers Business Unit in Telecom Egypt (TE) responsible for International Customers’ Data and undersea cable business. Saro founded the business unit to maximize TE revenues from International Data services capitalizing on the wealth of TE’s International network, handling business development, planning, project management, operations and sales of the undersea cable assets of Telecom Egypt. Since then, he has been managing the submarine mega projects including TE North, IMEWE, EIG, SEACOM, TGN EuroAsia, Alexandros, and HAWK , in addition to in-service cables including Aletar, SWM3, SMW4, FEA and Falcon increasing Egypt’s capacity and placing it squarely on the map.
Saro has also been Director of International Affairs with commercial responsibilities for International Voice and Data Wholesale and ownership for relations with global carriers and international customers.
Prior to joining TE in 2008, Saro was the Technical Operations Director of TEData (the largest Internet provider in Egypt and a subsidiary of Telecom Egypt). In addition to this position he was already involved in different consultancy projects with TE, capitalizing on his vast operational experience and submarine cables knowledge.
Saro has over 10 years of experience in both the executive & technical areas of telecommunication, networking & vendor/carrier relationship management in the field of ICT in Egypt and the MENA region. This stems from his diversified background, working in different Network Service providers such as Internet Egypt, Link Dot Net, and GEGA NET including the supervision of the merger of GEGA NET and IDSC networks to form TE Data in 2001.
Saro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Electronics Engineering from Cairo University and post graduate studies in Business from the German University in Cairo.
