Baron is the CEO of Kalan Real Estate Group, a division of Kalan Capital. Kalan Real Estate incubates, builds and operates property related investment and provides deal sourcing/brokerage to a few select strategic partners. Kalan's most recent investment is in the creation of a platform of economy, select service hotels in Vietnam and SE Asia. . t

Baron is also the Chairman of the Tourism Working Group for the Vietnam Business Forum, and previously served on the Hotel Advisory Board for the National Business Travel Association. He has guest lectured at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, NY and at the Cornell Nanyang Institute in Singapore, and in 2010 was the author of Chapter 1 of the book “Strategic Hospitality Leadership; The Asian Initiative”.

A 20 year veteran of the hospitality industry, Baron has lived and worked in Asia, the US, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands

Prior to joining Kalan, Baron served as the CEO of Indochina Hotels and Resorts which specializes in the acquisition, development and management of hospitality real estate in Vietnam. Indochina’s $500 million dollar portfolio includes The Nam Hai Resort, winner of the 2008 Design Award for the Best Resort in the World by Travel and Leisure Magazine, the Montgomerie Links Vietnam, voted the #1 Golf Course in Vietnam by Asian Golf Monthly and the Hyatt Regency in Danang, Hyatt's first resort in Vietnam. Baron has also held executive management positions and consulted for Marriott International, Le Meridien Hotels and the Landry’s Restaurant Group and was responsible for the development of hospitality projects in Honolulu, San Francisco, the Marianas Islands and Vietnam.

A Native Hawaiian, Baron holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Management from the University of San Francisco, and holds a Master’s Degree in Hospitality Marketing and Finance from Cornell University.
