John Bowers started his career in the investment industry in 1987 when he became the inaugural director of asset consulting at Towers Perrin. Prior to that he had been a member of the finance faculty at the Australian Graduate School of Management. In 1989 John was appointed CEO of Frank Russell Australia, a leading asset strategy consultant. In 1997 he moved into the investment management part of the industry, initially as CEO of BGI Australia, and then as Global Head of Fixed Income for BGI, based in London. John holds a B Com degree with first class honours in economics from the University of Newcastle and a Masters degree in business economics from Harvard, majoring in industry economics and finance.
