Steve Cowan, Managing Director. Mr. Cowan is a founder of 57 Stars, an independent global investment manager owned and managed by its investment team with more than USD 1 billion under management focused on partnership and co-investment in select private equity markets outside of the United States, primarily in emerging markets. Operating out of four offices around the world, 57 Stars’ team has approximately 100 years of collective experience investing in international private equity markets. Prior to 57 Stars, Mr. Cowan served in the Investment Funds Department of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). He received his AB (magna cum laude and with honors) in Political Science and Development Studies from Brown University, a JD from the Harvard Law School, and, during college, participated in the Yale-in-China program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
