Mohammed Bilal Alavi is the Head of Marketing at American Express Middle East, with the mandate of providing strategic Marketing support to all American Express Middle East offices. Alavi works in coordination with all divisions of American Express in the Middle East to develop and implement strategies for consumer and commercial products, while enhancing the brand awareness of the American Express Brand.
At American Express Middle East, Alavi’s specific focus is growing the market share for charge and credit cards through developing compelling value propositions for key customer segments. In addition to overseeing the marketing strategies for acquisition and usage of both consumer and corporate products, Alavi is also responsible for the management and marketing of American Express Middle East’s Membership Rewards® programme.
Alavi has over 10 years of experience in the various aspects of marketing cards products in the MENA region, having worked across the Middle East, Pakistan, Egypt and the Czech Republic. Prior to joining American Express MENA he was Vice President-Cards Business Manager and Marketing Director at Citibank N.A. Egypt, where he was responsible for all Card Product Portfolios.
A Pakistani national, Mr. Alavi holds an MBA in Finance & Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
