Dr. Fogassa manages the Hedgefort Brazil Fund, which has substantially outperformed a benchmark index of Brazilian hedge funds since inception. Hedgefort utilizes a proprietary quantitative approach for net long/short exposure coupled with a fundamentally-based security selection process with a growth bias. Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Fogassa graduated valedictorian among 600 students in a Portuguese-speaking high school in Sao Paulo. In college, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he double-majored and graduated with Tau Beta Pi honors; while a senior, he started an investment partnership for technology IPOs. Later, Dr. Fogassa received an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Dr. Fogassa has worked at Goldman Sachs and later as member of two venture capital firms, overseeing all aspects of due diligence and investment selection, and being a Board member in several companies. He also founded Spring Wireless, a Latin American data networking company. Dr. Fogassa is fluent in Portuguese and English.
