Pieter Schuurs joined APX-ENDEX on 1 January 2009. Next to his responsibilities as COO he is responsible for group policy on derivates trading and clearing. Pieter Schuurs has been working in the financial services industry for many years and has held senior management positions at various parts of the securities value chain. After starting his career at Amro-bank Pieter has held positions at Amsterdam Exchanges (head legal & membership department, deputy Secretary General, managing director at Amsterdam Stock Exchange and Necigef (the Dutch central securities depository)), ING Group (managing director Securities Services and Retail/Private Banking Securities) and Robeco, one of the leading Dutch asset managers (director Operations). Pieter is member of the Supervisory Board of European Commodity Clearing AG. Having represented Amsterdam Exchanges in the steering committee and subsequent foundation that commissioned the feasibility study for establishing a Dutch Power spot market, he was closely involved in the establishment of APX-ENDEX. He acted as chair and member of many national and international representative bodies of the banking industry focusing on harmonisation and integration of securities infrastructure in Europe. Pieter is a graduate of civil law, and social, company and economic law at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
