CASE STUDY: Assessing the economics of providing Data Centre Services: how much potential is there in this business?

  • To what extent is demand for Data Centre Services dependent on high-frequency trading?
  • Is it necessary to also sell space to non-financial market institutions in order for the economics to make sense?
  • What revenues can you realistically expect to generate from this type of business?
  • Do Data Centre Services actually add to systemic risk by concentrating the market in a single location?
  • What do you need to consider when choosing technology partners to help deliver the service?
