- The Victorian Government's Water Plan seeks to diversity Melbourne's water supplies and reduce the city's reliance on rain. The Victorian Desalination Project is a crucial part of that plan. It will supply up to 150 billion litres of water a year to Melbourne and regional towns by the end of 2011. The reverse osmosis plant will be the largest in Australia.
