Ms Anita Curnow, speaking at Urban Transport World Australia 2010

Ms Anita Curnow,
Director Network Improvements Network & Asset Planning
VicRoads

Anita Curnow is the Director of Network Improvements at VicRoads, a role she has held for two years. This is a program and policy part of VicRoads, meaning she is responsible for identifying program needs, securing funding for programs, ensuring projects funded through the programs are the highest priority and good value for money, and evaluating program outcomes. The programs range from improvements for pedestrians, cyclists, tram and bus users, freight, and general traffic, through to significant new infrastructure such as road duplications or grade separations. In the ITS area, Anita is responsible for policy and strategy. Anita's passion for ITS is that it is delivered in a way that ensures ongoing effectiveness in the future, as part of an integrated architecture, and that critically, ITS applications are delivered as part of a suite of tools for managing the road network and influencing road user behaviour in a way that achieves the Government's greater objectives of tackling congestion and accessibility. Anita is also the Austroads representative on the World Road Association Technical Committee B.3, Improved Mobility in Urban Areas. In the past, Anita has led tram and bus priority programs and worked in the RACV's public policy area. Anita also spent a year as Assistant Editor of the magazine Traffic Technology International.
