Wayne has spent his life working in the transport sector. Prior to his appointment as Regional Director, Wayne was General Manager of Transport Planning with Transit NZ. He was previously Transits Regional Manager in Auckland and a Director for the Traffic Design Group in Auckland. He brings to this role a background in strategic planning, with a strong focus on providing policy and advice on integrated transport modes and networks, process development and travel behaviour change. He has worked with local, regional and national stakeholders and organisations in the transport sector.
During his period as Regional Manger in Auckland he established the governance group and led the planning, design and construction of the North Shore Busway in Auckland. This role continued when he became General Manager, Transport Planning for Transit NZ up to the successful commissioning of the project.
Educated at University of Canterbury, he graduated with a first class honours Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and completed a postgraduate Master of Engineering Science degree in Transportation and Traffic from the University of New South Wales in Australia. Professional qualifications include being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Fellow of the Institution of Professional Engineers, a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management. He is also a Justice of the Peace.
