Dennis commenced work with Ove Arup and Partners in 1987 where he worked on a number of projects in the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne offices. In 1990, he joined the Brisbane City Council Kerbside Management Review as the Project Engineer. Dennis then joined the Queensland Department of Transport in August 1991 where he worked on a wide range of road use management and safety issues. From June 1995 to February 2000, Dennis managed the Speed Management Project for Queensland Transport. Dennis joined the Queensland Department of Main Roads in February 2000 where he was responsible for the provision of policies, services and standards in the areas of Network Operations and Performance and ITS Infrastructure. In 2003 Dennis took on the challenge of managing the Operations Plus project which was established to increase the focus on road operations by Main Roads and respond to the increasing strategic emphasis being placed on the area of Main Roads’ business. In 2004 Dennis added to his responsibilities by taking on the role of Program Manager – Network Program for Austroads. Dennis is currently the Executive Director of Road System Operations in the newly merged Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.
