Most recently he was the Global Innovation Director for the Telefonica Group, based from Madrid. Prior to this, Russ worked at O2, first as UK marketing director where he negotiated the breakthrough sponsorship deal to create The O2 music venue in London. Russ has also held previous positions as CEO of Mobileway, a venture-capital backed start-up focused on mobile messaging, and as Managing Director at UK cable company NTL (now Virgin Media). Before entering the telecoms industry, Russ spent many years marketing consumer financial services, including 10 years at American Express, based in London, in a variety of international marketing, advertising, and brand management roles in the Consumer Card and Global Network Services divisions. In 1999, he joined Charles Schwab as SVP, International Marketing, responsible for driving Schwab’s European business onto the web.
