 Dr Margaret Lee,
Vice President Therapeutic Area Research Zalicus Inc (formerly CombinatoRx) Margaret Lee joined CombinatoRx in 2001 and has since been responsible for the scientific direction and management of a multifunctional team of research scientists. Dr. Lee’s team is engaged in cell based assay development, high-throughput screening and lead development for the discovery and advancement of novel combination therapeutics to treat a number of diseases with a focus on Oncology. Her teams have contributed to the discovery and advancement of several combination therapeutics into clinical settings.
Dr. Lee received her BS in Biology in 1988 from Southampton College of Long Island University. She received her Ph.D. in 1994 from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Tufts University Sackler School where she studied the regulation of the eukaryotic cell cycle in the laboratory of Dr. Helen Piwnica-Worms. Dr. Lee conducted her postdoctoral research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Pamela Silver studying the cell biology and genetics of nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. Prior to joining CombinatoRx, Dr. Lee worked at the Aventis Pharmaceuticals Cambridge Genomics Center in Cambridge, MA where she designed and implemented cell based assays in yeast and mammalian systems for the discovery and validation of oncology drug targets. Appearing: DAY 3 THURSDAY 23 SEPTEMBER – CLINICAL TRIALS, COLLABORATIONS & COMBINATION THERAPY 2pm Systematic discovery of novel combination targets and therapeutics
- Employing a systematic approach to the discovery of novel targets and pathway interactions specific to cancer biology.
- Considering chemical biology and genomics data to drive hypothesis generation applicable to patient selection and combination therapeutic development.
- Where to go from here – what is required to push novel mechanism discovery towards co-development of more selective and efficacious combination therapeutics?
Dr Margaret Lee, Vice President Therapeutic Area Research, Zalicus Inc (formerly CombinatoRx) 2.30pm Panel discussion with Q&A: strategies for the early development of novel combined targeted cancer therapy
- Comparing the approaches taken by Big Pharma and biotech to development novel combined targeted therapies – advantages and disadvantages.
- Strategies for managing early co-development of targeted cancer drugs: scientifically, clinically and strategically.
