 Dr Hagop Youssoufian,
Chief Medical Officer & Senior Vice President Global Clincial Sciences ImClone Systems, a wholly-owned subsidary of Eli Lilly & Co Hagop Youssoufian, MSc, MD, is Senior Vice President of Global Clinical Sciences and Chief Medical Officer at ImClone Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company.
Dr. Youssoufian graduated from Boston College (BS, magna cum laude) and the University of Massachusetts Medical School (MSc/MD). After training in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins, he completed fellowships in Clinical Genetics at Johns Hopkins and in Hematology-Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was also a Visiting Scientist at Whitehead Institute. He then served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School as Assistant Professor of Medicine and at Baylor College of Medicine as Associate Professor and Chief of Medical Genetics. Subsequently, he was appointed Medical Director at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he organized translational research and biomarker activities across various therapeutic areas and served as the clinical leader on the development of Sprycel for chronic myeloid leukemia. He then became Distinguished Clinical Scientist at Sanofi Aventis, where he served as the clinical leader of a joint venture with Immunogen and of the global development of Taxotere in adjuvant breast cancer. Since joining ImClone in April 2005, Dr. Youssoufian has supported or led all aspects of the clinical development of Erbitux and the ImClone pipeline. This effort culminated in the approval of Erbitux for new indications in colorectal cancer and head-and-neck cancer and an expansion of the pipeline across many indications. He was the keynote speaker representing ImClone Systems, Eli Lilly and Bristol-Myers Squibb at ODAC on the role of KRAS testing in EGFR-directed therapeutics.
Dr. Youssoufian has published over 85 manuscripts and book chapters on a wide array of subjects, including human genetics, recombinant DNA technology, drug discovery and clinical research in oncology. He has been the recipient of numerous grants from the NIH and private foundations, and his honors include the Hearst Endowment (Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School), Leukemia Society Translational Research Award, Burroughs Wellcome Clinical Scientist Award, and election to the American Society for Clinical Investigation.Appearing: DAY 1 TUESDAY 21 SEPTEMBER – REGULATION & REIMBURSEMENT IN EUROPE 10.10am Shifting the paradigm: making a case for the increased importance of early-stage development of targeted cancer therapies
