 Russell Neal,
Strategic Program Manager Southern California Edison Russell Neal is a Strategic Program Manager in the Grid Advancement organization for Smart Grid initiatives, with an emphasis on the distribution system. He originated the 'Distribution Circuit of the Future' project, which resulted in the Avanti circuit out of Shandin substation in San Bernardino. Russ is currently leading a follow on effort to design and build a prototype Distribution System of the Future, which will include multiple circuits and substation elements.
Russ has 30 years with Southern California Edison. His first seventeen years were at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station as an electrical engineering supervisor. His subsequent time in TDBU has included time supervising distribution equipment engineering, a district office, and distribution engineering.
Russ graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1973 with a BSEE and served five years in the nuclear Navy. He has a MEEE from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Azusa Pacific University.
