 Michael Ballard,
Manager, Home Appliance Solutions Microchip Technology Michael received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree from Ohio University's Russ College of Engineering and Technology. His career began in the power-generation market and migrated to automotive electronics, where he spent over a decade with automotive OEMs and semiconductor providers. In 2007, Michael transitioned into the appliance market as the Manager of the Home Appliance Solutions Group at Microchip Technology Inc. Considered an industry expert in Smart Energy, Michael authored and presented a Smart Grid paper at the 2009 Embedded Systems Conference in Boston. He is a member of the Smart Grid task force with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) where he co-authored a white paper on Smart Grid requirements.
