 Kathy York,
Chairperson, Wholesale Electric Quadrant Executive Committee North American Energy Standards Board Katherine York is currently a Program Manager for Energy Markets, Policy, and Compliance Reporting at the Tennessee Valley Authority and serves as the Chair for the North American Energy Standards Board's (NAESB) Executive Committee for the Wholesale Electric Quadrant.
In her current role as Program Manager, Ms. York is responsible for regulatory and policy interfaces with the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and RTOs/ISOs such as PJM and MISO. She is responsible for regulatory strategies and oversight for the power commodity and works with operational departments in adapting processes, systems, and budgets to align to new industry practices and regulations. In addition to her regulatory roles, she has been responsible for organizational communications strategy, implementation plans to position the organization with key stakeholder groups, executive reporting, and website design.
As NAESB Chair of the Wholesale Electric Executive Committee, Ms.York is responsible for working with other Executive Committee members to review and approve national commercial standards related to OASIS, Smart Grid, companion business standards to NERC reliability standards, E-Tag Specifications, and other standards related to power transactions and scheduling.
In addition to her current role as NAESB Chair, she was the former Co-Chair of the Business Practice Subcommittee and has worked in a variety of other subcommittees and task forces related to business practices and commercial rules for the electric industry.
In her previous TVA roles over the past 34 years, Ms. York served as Marketing Manager for Maintenance and Testing Services, Product Development Manager for Bulk Power Trading, Program Manager for former Vice-President Gores Hassle-Free Communities Initiative (special assignment for National Partnership for Reinventing Government), and a variety of other roles in the marketing and communications areas.
While working for TVA, Ms. York attended evening school and received an A.A. in Journalism, a BA in Communications, and an MBA in Marketing.
