 Ali Morabbi,
Grid Director Los Angeles Department of Water & Power Mr. Morabbi is currently the program director for the Smart grid implementation at the Los Angels Department of Water and Power. He is currently directing the implementation of the $60M smart grid demo grant award received from the DOE to demonstrate the demand response, electric vehicle, customer behavior, and cyber security technologies across the utilities water and power network. Mr. Morabbi is also responsible for all LADWP Power System advanced/emerging technology including control systems, information systems, cyber security, telecommunications network technology, and business process improvement and reengineering efforts. During his 29-year career with LADWP, Ali has directed and managed the implementation of several major projects. These projects include the first EMS/SCADA System, the first Broadband over Power line (BPL) installation in the State of California, a workforce management including the mobile components to support the distribution/transmission network. Mr. Morabbi holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stafford University, London, England and the University of Southern California.
