Dr Rob Whitney is Chief Executive of CRL Energy Ltd, New Zealand’s premier energy research, science and technology organisation. With a staff of 40, the main laboratories are in Wellington; with other sites in Christchurch, Hamilton and Greymouth. CRL Energy has Government research contracts for hydrogen energy, bioenergy, gasification, energy scenarios, environmental impacts of mining, and greenhouse gas reduction. CRL Energy is a member of the IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme and the IEA Clean Coal Centre. Rob Whitney has a BSc (Hons) degree in Industrial Chemistry, a PhD in Polymer Chemistry, and is a Fellow and past National President of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry. He is past president of Rotary Club of Port Nicholson. He has been Chairman of the Energy Federation of New Zealand (The NZ WEC Committee) since 2000. He has on the WEC Communications and Outreach Standing committee and the WEC Energy Policy Scenarios to 2050 Steering Committee.
