John is a professional electrical engineer who has held a number of senior management roles within Transpower. He is currently the General Manager Grid Development. John has had a varied career both within the electricity sector and outside of it having worked both directly for energy sector utilities and also in engineering consulting. John is well known for his work with industry stakeholder groups on the collaborative industry leadership of operational power system such as the recent dry year and winter peak issues. He is a member of the Electricity Commission’s Common Quality Advisory Group.
