 Ms Eva Thorne,
Principal Corporate Governance Solutions A native New Yorker, Eva T. Thorne holds an undergraduate degree in history from Harvard University and a doctorate in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Eva is the Meyer and Walter Jaffe Assistant Professor of Politics at Brandeis University. She does research on international development, emerging market politics, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Her book, Safeguarding the World Bank: The Politics of Institutional Reform, under contract at Ashgate Press, examines how global protest movements affect the World Bank. Her research is informed by deep experience living and working in developing countries. She has traveled through the Americas, via canoe, horse, and four-wheel-drive, visiting various indigenous communities. Her interest in CSR emerged from her work on the Bank as well as with indigenous communities in Latin America. Eva speaks Spanish and Portuguese. She has done corporate trainings for oil and gas executives, focusing on how politics affect business. Eva is a director of Pact, a Washington, DC-based international development NGO that is piloting innovative partnerships between corporations and NGOs for the purpose of advancing sustainable development. Eva has consulted for the Ford Foundation, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, energy and mining companies, and the London Business School. She has extensive experience speaking, consulting and writing on CSR and political risk issues. She writes and publishes on political risk for business journals and conferences and has spoken at numerous conferences in the areas of oil, gas, mining, banking and insurance.
