Stories in the press:

ND SatCom awarded frame contract from Q-KON for new generation SkyWAN® units
 08.04.2009 (Corporate Communications)

Leading African service provider Q-KON to provide corporate customers with leading edge VSAT solution

ND SatCom received a 2-year frame contract from Q-KON, a leading service provider based in South Africa, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The contract was achieved in close cooperation with ND SatCom’s sister company SES ASTRA Africa.

Q-KON, which operates ten VSAT networks over nine satellites from seven teleports, will procure new generation SkyWAN® units for up to 1000 sites all over Africa, which will be used mainly for organizations in mining, oil & gas, banking, and transportation. “It is our goal to establish a single pan-African network, which integrates teleports in Africa and Europe. With SkyWAN®, we are able to set up a multi-dimensional, multi-star IP satellite access platform to provide seamless IP connectivity for corporate customers. SkyWAN®‘s mesh capability ideally supports single satellite hop connections”, says Dawie de Wet, CEO of Q-KON.

“ND SatCom and Q-KON have been working together for almost a decade now. We both have a deep understanding of what the African market is looking for. With Q-KON, we found a strong local partner, who has an excellent reputation in Africa and offers us market access to a fast growing client base”, says Norbert Hölzle.

We published the success story in a press release this morning. Currently, ND SatCom is exhibiting at SatCom Africa 2009, a trade show in Johannesburg, where the contract was also signed between the two companies.
