Mr Serge Van Themsche,
Vice President, EMEA, Systems Division

Serge Van Themsche is Vice-President, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Systems Division, at Bombardier Transportation, appointed in December 2009. He leads a regional team to market, sell and deliver turnkey transit system solutions. For the last ten years, Mr. Van Themsche has held various management positions at Bombardier in the EMEA region and the North and South American railway markets. Prior to this, he gained experience in automation technologies and is knowledgeable in system, network and automation solutions, which are critical in new railway system design. He spent several years in the energy industry and has an indepth knowledge of energy efficient solutions, insights now applied to the railway industry. With a solid technical background, complemented by studies in a Canadian Business School followed by Post-Graduate studies in France, England and the USA, he has focused his attention on leading innovation, in particular in the areas of security and energy saving solutions. Mr. Van Themsche is Bombardier’s UITP Representative for the ITSI committee and he represents the industry within the Security Working Group of UITP’s techology committee.
