Tim Gillespie has been involved in federal, state and local transportation policy issues for more than 30 years. Mr. Gillespie served ten years on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant to former Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania. He later moved to Amtrak as their chief liaison to Congress and the Administration serving as Vice President, Government and Public Affairs. In his role at Amtrak for almost 20 years, Mr. Gillespie was responsible for developing the legislative and public relations strategy for funding and maintaining a national rail passenger system in the United States. Mr. Gillespie is now a partner in BGL Associates, a transportation policy consulting company that represents domestic and international clients with an interest in issues pending before Congress and federal agencies. In addition, Mr. Gillespie serves as Treasurer of the Passenger Rail Today Political Action Committee. This is the only political action committee whose sole purpose is to elect candidates to public office who have made it a priority to protect and expand a national rail passenger network and develop a high speed rail network.
