Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle was elected in November 2002 and reelected in November 2006. Since he took office, Anaheim has earned the distinction of being a municipality with a “freedom-friendly” approach to governing – a spirit that has fostered greater personal, entrepreneurial and corporate initiative in the city. As mayor, Curt Pringle has translated his “freedom-friendly” governing philosophy into a number of policy successes. Among them is the pioneering of tax-free incentives for both homeowners and new business owners which resulted in more than $28 million in new investment and new jobs. He has also made technology and customer service top priorities for the city, constantly looking for ways to use modern technology to improve city programs and services for benefit of Anaheim residents and businesses. In 2009, he formed the first-ever Mayor’s Technology Advisory Committee to help support the city’s focus on technology and created the Great Anaheim Apps Competition, which attracted creative mobile-based application ideas from all over the nation. Because of his experience and depth of knowledge on a variety of public policy issues, Mayor Pringle is regularly sought out at the national, regional and local level to work on important policy issues. He currently serves as chairman of the California High Speed Rail Authority. He has previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Commission on the 21st Century Economy and the Public Employees Post-Employment Benefits Commission. He is also a director of the Orange County Transportation Authority and an active leader in the effort to create the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), a world-class transportation and mixed-use activity center. Prior to his election as mayor, Pringle served with distinction in the California State Assembly from 1988-90 and again from 1992-98. He was elected Speaker of the California State Assembly in January 1996, which is considered the second most powerful office in state government, and served until December 1996. In addition to his civic duties, the mayor runs Curt Pringle & Associates, a public relations, governmental affairs and consulting firm located in Orange County. He has served as an adjunct Political Science faculty member at the University of California, Irvine. Mayor Pringle also serves as Governing Board Member for the Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership, California State University, Long Beach, as well as a member of the boards of the Tiger Woods Learning Center Foundation, the MUZEO and the John Burton Foundation for Children without Homes. He is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Administration. A resident of the Anaheim/Garden Grove area for over 36 years, Mayor Pringle and his family live in Anaheim.
