Professor Ian Goulter is currently Vice-Chancellor and President at Charles Sturt University, a position he has held since 2001. Prior to taking up the position at Charles Sturt University he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Higher Education) at Swinburne University of Technology (1997-2001), Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Central Queensland University (1993-1997) and Dean of the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Building (1992) and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering (1991) at the University College of Central Queensland. Before coming to Australia in 1990 he worked for 11 years at the University of Manitoba in Canada. He received his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with First Class Honours from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand in 1974. After working as an Engineer in Government agencies and private companies he went on a Fulbright Scholarship to the University of Illinios at Urbana-Champaign where he was awarded a Master of Science in 1977 and a PhD in 1979. Professor Goulter is President Emeritus of the World Association for Co operative Education (WACE), an international organisation committed to the international promotion of World Integrated Learning in all its forms. Professor Goulter was also the AVCC lead Vice-Chancellor for International, a position he held from 2002 – 2003, and Convenor of the New South Wales Vice-Chancellors’ Committee from 2007 – 2008.
