 Mr Israel Makov,
Chairman Given Imaging, Chairman, Netafim, Former President and Chief Executive Officer, Teva Pharmaceutical , Israel Israel Makov is the former President & CEO of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., and is widely credited with making the company the worlds leader in the generic industry. Since he joined Teva in 1995, Makov led the companys global expansion, managing over 12 acquisitionsincluding the acquisition of Ivax for $7.8 billion, then the largest M&A deal in Israeli history. During Makovs five year tenure as CEO, the companys sales increased over four-fold, and its adjusted net income increased approximately six-fold.
Today, Makov is Chairman of Given Imagingthe pioneer developer and world leading provider of capsule endoscopy and Chairman of Netafimthe global leader in smart irrigation solutions
Formerly, Makov led a number of companies in various industries, including founding Israels first biotech company, Interpharm, which went public in the US.
Makov is a member of the Board of Directors of the Israel National Nanotechnology Initiative, an initiative he also helped found. He is also a member of the Executive Board & Management Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science, on the Board of Governors of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzliya, the President of the Friends of Schneider Childrens Medical Center of Israel and also the Chairman of the Friends of Gesher Theatre, one of Israels leading theaters.
