Appearing: Conference Day Two: Thursday, 18 March 2010 16.00 Closing visionary panel discussionKeynote speakers from World Pharma Trials Asia, Biologic Manufacturing World Asia, R&D and Partnering World Asia, Drug Discovery Technology World Asia will gather in this Closing Plenary Keynote Session to discuss the major points that have been covered in the conferences. This will also be a session to officially close the event.
Close examination of the pharmaceutical industry at present reveals a fairly troubled patient. The symptoms have gradually been deteriorating; drug development costs are soaring, R&D pipelines have yielded limited returns resulting in a steady drop in the number of product launches, and generic competition has intensified. At the same time, patent expiries have hit hard, with more pain to follow soon. In addition, the global healthcare market has shifted, with emerging stakeholders – most notably patients and payers – assuming greater importance and forcing pharma to take a different approach. With global healthcare budgets under the microscope, pharma is under intolerable pressure to reduce the cost of its medicines. Faced with such a bleak diagnosis, pharma is restructuring and reexamining its business models.
Crisis often offers big opportunity. We are sure you would like to know: How can players in Asia’s biopharmaceutical industry recognize and leverage on these burgeoning opportunities? Join us at the closing plenary session take this unique opportunity to be in conversation with the pharma’s most influential visionary figures to get all your questions answered.
