Dr Lincoln Paterson,
Program Leader, Petroleum Engineering Earth Science and Resource Engineering CSIRO/CO2CRC Dr Paterson is a mathematical physicist whose research has focused on understanding the behaviour of fluid flow in porous media. He also has a broad background in energy that includes solar, hydrogen, coal extraction, oil and gas.His recent research has been primarily applied to understanding geological storage of carbon dioxide, but he also has interests in hydrocarbon recovery and geothermal energy extraction. With a theme of developing and applying better modelling techniques, he is distinguished by having successfully integrated research within the disciplines of physics, geophysics, geostatistics and petroleum reservoir engineering.Appearing: Day Two, Wednesday 23 June 2010 4.40pm Overcoming the challenges of identifying an appropriate storage site
- Assessing storage sites for injectivity and containment security
- Examining the tradeoff between distance and site suitability
- Strategies for developing storage sites
