Mr David George, speaking at Bus Rapid Transit World Europe 2010

Mr David George,
Project Director
Fastrack, United Kingdom

David George was appointed to the post of Fastrack Project Manager in August 1999 with responsibility for the strategic management of activity on Fastrack across a wide range of partners and stakeholders. A bus rapid transit (BRT) project, Fastrack is critical to the sustainable regeneration of Kent Thameside, a major growth area within the Thames Gateway. During the early stages of project development David played a key role in securing much of the funding for Fastrack. He has managed implementation of successive phases of the project following the successful launch of the first route in 2006, and continues to steer development and the future direction of the project. David has lived and/or worked in North Kent for over twenty years. A chartered civil engineer, his past career has included experience in both the public and private sectors with major contractors, consultants and local authorities. For four years immediately before joining Kent Thameside he managed the design and implementation of Red Routes and bus priority measures on behalf of the Traffic Director for London. In 2008 David was the recipient of the inaugural Passenger Transport Management Awards ‘Project Leader of the Year’ award for his work on the Fastrack project.
