 Dr Hamdi Chaouk,
Director General Civil Aviation Authority Lebanon Dr. Hamdi Chaouk was appointed to the position of Director General, Civil Aviation of Lebanon in 2002, bringing about 25 years of experience and expertise in the aviation industry. Prior to this, Dr.Chaouk was Advisor to the Minister of Public Works & Transport. He has had a distinguished career. From September 1995 to February 2002 he was Assistant Professor, Engineering, in the Lebanese University. He was also Associate Professor & Head of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering as well as the Director of Special Programmes at the University of Balamand, Lebanon. For four years starting 1991, Dr. Chaouk was Head of Engineering at Dubai Aviation College, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai. Prior to this, he had worked in various positions including that of Assistant Professor, Ajman University College for Science & Technology, UAE; Professional Engineer, Structures Group; highly secured and classified position in the Government Aircraft Factory, Ministry of Defence (ASTA), Australia;
Professional Engineer, Structures Group, Hawker de Havilland, Australia; and Structural Engineer & Payload Development Engineer, Qantas Airways. Australia. Dr. Chaouk obtained his B.E. (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering and Ph.D. degree from the University of Sydney, Australia. He has to his credit 15 internationally approved publications on aircraft structures & materials, a book (under development) on aircraft advanced composite and has presented numerous papers in international conferences & seminars on aviation strategy, planning, liberalisation, restructuring and globalisation. He was a Member of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Montreal, Canada, and still representative of Lebanon in ICAO, He is also a Member of various professional societies including the Institute of Engineers, (Australia), Royal Aeronautical Society (UK), American Helicopter Society (USA), Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC), Society of Engineers (U.A.E) and Order of Engineers (Lebanon) and Airport
