Questions & Answers
Is the WTC a conference?
No, we describe it as a meeting. Instead of sitting back and listening as part of a large audience, you have the opportunity to get involved, to work through issues that matter to you, as part of a smaller but fully engaged audience. This creates a unique environment, one populated by interested, alert participants, unlike a conference where delegates tend to arrange private meetings.
What about speakers?
We have more session leaders than speakers. These are generally senior, recognised experts in their field, many of them analysts and consultants, but the participants are also the speakers and are some of the most senior and interesting people you will ever meet in the industry.
Who comes/who should come?
The WTC is open to any senior executive in the global communications industry, but it is particularly suitable for senior executives of telecom operators/services providers. Those who have a range of titles from departmental head to CEO, but are all intimately involved in the business models and strategy of their respective businesses. Companies represented in 2009 included great names such as Tata, Bharti, BT, TeliaSonera, Orange and NTT.
Do I have to speak?
No one forces you to speak or ask questions, but the majority of participants tend to. Open discussion and a friendly environment leads to honest, frank and sometimes heated debates. Maybe not in every session, but at some stage you will want to get involved.
