Under the Patronage of H.E. Rashid Ahmad Muhammad Bin Fahad, Minister, Ministry of Environment and Water

In order to meet the rapidly growing demand for
water and wastewater services, the Arab countries need to invest up to US$53 billion in water-related infrastructure over the next 12 years.

In this arid part of the globe, the situation becomes more alarming when taking into consideration the rapid population growth and the water consumption per capita being one of the world’s highest. Local governments and
water authorities are revising their water distribution channels including irrigation policies and opening the sector to private companies to build, operate, own and invest in water projects.

The deregulation strategies aim to attract private investments but policy makers believe that the
contribution of the private sector will also leverage the quality, growth and viability of the water industry in the Middle East.
