Mr Hakan Demir,
General Manager

After 12 years of experience in M&A, privatizations, project management, business development at Koc Holdings, a Fortune 200 conglomerate, Hakan has been involved in the establishment of a start-up telecoms company and assumed the General Manager position at Arikanli Group. Later, he has been involved in wireless and mobile projects in Turkey and the surrounding region as an independent telecommunications consultant. He consulted the Fenerbahce SK, the leading sports club of Turkey, to develop Turkey’s first-ever pre-MVNO, established a new company with the Fenercell brand name and managed all related operations. Hakan has assumed the General Manager position at Fenercell since January 2009. Has developed intensive know-how within all disciplines of telecommunications sector, including fixed-line, wireless technologies (WiMAX, Wi-Fi), mobile communications, Internet and Cable TV. He has managed hundreds of millions to billion USD projects in a broad range of telecommunications industry covering CEE, CIS and Middle East Regions. Hakan has performed the following major activities in the past: 1) Privatization of Bulgarian Telecom (BTC) and Turk Telekom, 2) Tender for third GSM license and asset sale of second GSM operation in Turkey 3) Acquisition of a competing alternative telecom operator in Turkey 4) Tenders for acquisitions of Unitel, Uzbekistan and BCTI, Turkmenistan’s only GSM operator 5) Management and strategy development for Cable TV services in Turkey. 6) WiMAX trial in Turkey. Hakan Demir has an electronics engineering degree from Middle East Technical University, a BS degree in public administration from Marmara University and an Executive MBA from Koc University, first rank and valedictorian honors on the last two graduations. He is married with two sons and speaks English and Turkish
