Hisham Abdulaal is an experienced telecommunications professional and manager who has been playing a major role in the development of Menatelecom as a WiMAX operator and in negotiating, designing and building its current WiMAX network and enterprise services. Hisham has more than thirteen years of post-graduation experience in the telecommunications sector and has considerable knowledge of all aspects of telecommunications engineering including switching & radio, both mobile and fixed telephony, data & IP Networking, intelligent networks, and in the operation and management of systems and related applications. Prior to joining Menatelecom Hisham worked for Ericsson AB as a support engineer before coming the support manager and then as a senior manager of major projects. His roles there included engineering manager for Bahrain and Qatar and heading all technical and project departments for Ericsson Bahrain & Qatar.
Hisham has a B.Sc. Degree in Electronics from the University of Brighton, UK and a M.Sc. in Mobile Telecommunications from Kings College, University of London. He is a certified telecommunications arbitrator from GCC Commercial Centre and member of Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE). Also he is currently pursuing an MBA with the University of Hull, UK.

Krzysztof Baran graduated from the Warsaw Technical University; he also possesses MBA title of the Warsaw School of Economics and University of Minnesota. He has worked in the telecom sector for more than 15 years starting his professional experience in PTK Centertel (currently Orange Poland) company where he worked in the Network Development Division as, among others, the Head of the Division and the Deputy CTO. He worked as the Head of Network Planning in the Polish telecom incumbent TP S.A. for three years and next two years as the independent telecom consultant working for several customers in Poland. In 2007 Krzysztof Baran joined Netia S.A. as the Chief Technology Officer.

In 1994 he was Research Assistant in the Speech Recognition Department, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, working on Natural Language recognition and semantic information post-processing. In 1998, he joined Dragon Systems, Inc., Newton, Massachusetts (USA) as International Software Engineer, where he worked in the design and development of the speech recognition products for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch and Japanese. Since 2000, he has been with Telefónica I+D, being from 2000 to 2004 a member of the Speech Recognition Group responsible for the Telefonica Natural Language recognizer development. From 2004 he is with the Telefonica Advanced Platform Division, where he is currently researching on new technologies and service platforms for innovative Ambient Intelligent scenarios (sensor networks platforms, context-aware platforms, etc.).

Chris Bilton is Director of Technology Strategy in BT Innovate. Chris’s previous role was Director of Networks, ICT & Standards in BT Group Chief Technology Office (renamed BT Innovate in October 2008) for 3 years where he was responsible for creating & leading the development of BTs 21C Networks & ICT Architecture and supporting its implementation across BT Group and the BT Lines of Business. He was also responsible for leading & coordinating BT Groups overall participation in International Standards Fora and Industry Groups.
He has had over 20 years experience in creating global networks and application services, having held a number of senior roles in product & service management, strategy, architecture, design and implementation for global products such as the GNS X.25 service, Concert Frame Relay Service, and Concert IP services. For three years he led the design of BTs UK networks for data, dial IP and IP services in NetworkBT during the dotcom boom. He has also held a variety of senior management, consulting and technology roles both within BT and BT’s joint ventures.
He received a BSc in Physics & Electronics (Joint Honours) from Brunel University. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the IET.

Dr. Rong-Yih Chen was born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1960. He received his M.S. degree in Communication Engineering from the National Chiao Tung University and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1984 and 1993, respectively.
Dr. Chen has been with Telecommunication Laboratories for over 24 years with his scope of work in research on adaptive signal processing, loop plant system engineering, digital subscriber line systems, wireless communications and networking technologies. He is currently a managing director in Wireless Communication Lab., Telecommunication Laboratories, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd.

Mark Chong is the Executive Vice President of Networks. He was appointed in January 2008. His main responsibility is to optimize and enhance the fixed, wireless and international networks of SingTel Singapore, as well as implementing new network technologies.
Mark joined SingTel in 1997 as General Manager (Telephony) in the fixed-line business and was posted to Shinawatra Paging, a SingTel joint venture in Thailand, as Managing Director in 1999. Upon his return in 2001, he was appointed CEO (SingTel Global Offices) and was responsible for growing SingTel’s corporate business outside of Singapore. His role was subsequently enlarged in 2004 where he also took on the position of VP (Global Accounts). In 2006, he relinquished his CEO (SingTel Global Offices) role and focused on leading the Global Accounts team where he was managing the telecommunication needs of SingTel’s major corporate customers until December 2007.
Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering and Master in Research in Electronic Systems from ENSERG, Grenoble, France and obtained his Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Adrian Cuadros is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Alestra, an AT&T venture in Mexico with Alfa, a leading industrial corporation. Among his responsibilities are: the definition of the Technology Strategy and Network Architecture, the planning and development of the Services offered to the Business and Consumer markets, managing the Corporate Information Security model and policy; and advising Executive Officers on Technology Trends, Business Opportunities and Infrastructure Optimizations. He has been with Alestra since its start-up period and was Director of Engineering from 1997 to 2002, and Engineering Manager from 1996 to 1997.
From 1993 to 1995 he held several technical positions in AT&T Mexico, in the Network Systems Division.
Adrian holds a BS in Electronic and Communications Engineering from ITESM (Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey), a Master´s Degree in Business Administration from the same Institute, and he is an alumni from the Executive Business Program at IPADE (Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresas). He has been a speaker in a series of Telecommunications Forums.

Vasil Dimitrov is leading the WiMAX deployment and WiMAX operations of Nexcom-Bulgaria. During his career he has gained experience as CTO of Nexcom-Bulgaria and has contributed for establishing the company as the first independent telecom in Bulgaria in 2002. Later Vasil coordinated the expansion of the international network of Nexcom Telecom in telecom hubs in London, New York and Frankfurt and the interconnect with major Tier 1 carriers. Briefly managing the technical operations of Voicecom (joint venture of Lietuvos Telekomas and Nexcom Telecommunications LLC) he has worked on new services implementation in highly competitive market.
Following the development of WiMAX technology from the very beginning, Mr. Dimitrov has worked closely with regulators in several countries on regulatory framework and has taken part in the process of WiMAX tender preparation. After Nexcom Bulgaria acquired a WiMAX license at the end of 2005, Mr. Dimitrov was appointed as Head of the WiMAX Division and has coordinated the enrolment of Nexcom’s WiMAX Network including more than 30 base stations and 1000+ subscribers. He is also responsible for the implementation of the Billing and OSS systems and voice services.

Michael Doubrava started his career with signal processing for GSM base stations in 1990 with Philips Kommunikations Industrie and has been active in wireless communications since that time. In addition to product development he was responsible for advanced transceiver technologies with Lucent Technologies in Nuremberg. As a Director Bell Labs he covered converged wireless and wireline networks together with services and applications with teams in Germany and The Netherlands. Michael was involved in all kinds of latest air-interface technologies and also in many national and European Commission funded research project. When the UMTS Basesstation Development and the UMTS Test Lab of Alcatel-Lucent in Germany was outsourced to Nash Technologies, he became responsible for the system test and the interoperability testing.

In September 2000, he was appointed at the Executive Committee as Group Executive Vice President Consumer Wireline Services and Group Vice President Public Affairs. Since June 2004, he was Senior Vice President, Technologies and Innovation, within theTechnologies, Strategic Partnerships and New Usages Mission.
Mr Fossier is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines.

John has accumulated twenty-six years of Telecommunications and Information’s Communications Technology experience within the global Voice and Data communications market. John’s experience crosses several continents and includes working with various local and global service providers, such as China Telecom, DT, BT, AT&T, Sprint, Telekom SA and many more. Much of his career has focused on working within the equipment vendor community, working for companies such as Lucent Technologies, Madge Networks, ZTE and Huawei, while developing successful partnerships with several other vendors and suppliers on major projects.
During the past 10 years John has focused his attention on identifying and qualifying new technology market directions, and on the development of cost effective yet innovative solutions for large-scale deployment. John has spent much of his time supporting the BT 21cn network activities and on other service provider Next Generation Network projects and programs. This focus has required John to lead and develop several, often geographically diverse teams, in providing comprehensive solutions to either internal or external customer requirements.
John continues to work towards developing an outstanding track record in both academic and professional achievement, having focused his academic development in on the areas of strategic management, marketing and technical consultancy, where he holds several degrees and has been accredited as a Chartered Marketer.
John is currently working as a Senior Consultant for the Huawei CTO office and is based in the United Kingdom.

Paul Gainham joined Juniper Networks in 2003 as Product Marketing Manager for Juniper Networks EMEA. In this role Mr. Gainham presents Juniper Networks at a number of key industry seminars and events as well as engaging with both existing and prospective customers.

Paul Hendriks has a degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Starting his career with the Dutch incumbent operator KPN in 1992, he managed a series of national and international projects, departments (Architecture & Development, Regional Operations) and the wholesale business lines telephony and broadband. He acted as the program executive for Voice over IP and All IP.
Early 2008 Paul joined the Dutch operator Ziggo, consisting of three former cable television operators. As Chief Technology Officer he is responsible for the innovation, development and operations of the platforms and networks. A major task is also the integration of all the platforms and networks of the three former companies.
Change management has been a continuing theme throughout Paul’s career, consulting, designing, managing and leading a series of restructuring efforts, reorganisations and innovations.

Brian Levy brings more than 35 years of telecommunications experience to his current role as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Hewlett-Packard’s Communications, Media and Entertainment (CME) business. In this role, Mr. Levy provides the technical leadership and strategy for the worldwide organization, ensuring that product and solution architectures are aligned across the CME Solutions organization and other HP business units. He also leads the CME technical community and is the primary liaison to the HP Office of Strategy and Technology and with the CTOs across the various HP business units.
Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Levy served as Group Technology Officer, Service Strategy and Innovation at HP.
Previously, he served as AT&T’s Director of Network Services for the EMEA region. He also held positions at GTS (Ebone) as Vice President for IP Service Realization and Vice President for IP Product Marketing. Mr. Levy co-founded and served as Senior Vice President for Architecture and Operations at Aduronet. He also served as Senior Vice President of Product Development for Storm Telecommunications.
Brian Levy has an honors degree in electronic communication from Salford University. He is a member of the Samsung Advisory Board.

István Maradi (born in 1964 ) graduated in 1989 from the Technical University of Budapest with a degree in communications engineering, specialized in GSM and mobile communication, then in 2000 obtained an MBA degree at the Open University of London. He started his carrier in Matáv PKI Research Institute as mobile telecommunications researcher. Then he participated in the start-up of Westel Rádiótelefon Kft. with responsibility for network design. In the initial period of the company’s operations he worked as design engineer, then as radio engineer, from 1992 as director for network operations. From 1995 he was director of operations at Westel 900 Rt., then at Westel Mobil Rt., from 2001 to 2006 Chief Officer and Service Development Director of Westel Mobile Rt. (later T-Mobile Magyarország Rt.). He played a key role in construction and development of the network, operations and selection of supliers involved in these operations, and in the introduction of new services. He contributed with his work to T-Mobile Magyarország achieving and keeping a market leader position. From April 1, 2007 he was Chief Information Officer of Magyar Telekom. From January 1, 2008 he became Chief Technology and IT Officer of Magyar Telekom

CAROLINA PINART GILBERGA (Barcelona, 1975) is a graduate and PhD in Telecommunications Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (April 1999 and December 2005). Since September 2007, she is the Head of Telefónica I+D's Networked Vehicles Division (Madrid, Spain).
From 2001 to 2007, she was the Director of Institutional Relations of the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC, Barcelona, Spain). Her duties involved relations with CTTC's board and advisory bodies, internal management, including the rewards program, and communication. She also collaborated with CTTC's Optical Networking Area, where she is an Industry Associate Researcher since Sept. 2007. In summers 2006 and 2008, she was a Visiting Researcher at the National Institute of Information & Communic. Tech. (Tokyo, Japan). From 1999 to 2001, she was a consultant for Altran (Paris, France), where she held positions of research engineer (client: Ericsson) and project leader (clients: FERMA/Mobinil and Renault R&D). From 1998 to 1999, she served as an undergraduate researcher for Siemens AG (Munich, Germany).
Since 2000, she has been participating in 14 public-funded R&D projects on wireless and optical networking technologies. Dr. Pinart has over 45 publications in journals and conferences, has supervised 2 Masters Theses (PFCs) and 4 undergraduate trainees, and is currently co-supervising a PhD student.
During her research career, she has obtained a Post-Graduate Prize by the Fundació Agrupació Mútua (2003), a Best PhD Dissertation Prize by the Spanish Association of Telecom Engineers (2006) and a Post-Doc Fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2006).

Colin has been in telecommunication since 1996 after receiving his bachelor degrees in telecommunications from Hogeschool Eindhoven, The Netherlands and in Robotics from the University of British Colombia, Canada.
Colin has been working as a consultant on service delivery and IN platforms from 1997. Consequently has helped to architect, design and implement 4 different platforms with different operators.
Colin joined KPN in 2003. In 2004 and 2005 Colin was the chief architect for the Program VoIP. During 2006 Colin was responsible for IMS introduction as lead architect.
Within the Service and Technology Office his activities today cover Open Innovation, two-sided business models, IPTV and service delivery.

Barry Reynolds was born in Dublin Ireland in 1951. He received an Honours Degress in Physics from University College Dublin in 1972 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Fordham University New York in 1990.
He has worked primarily in the Research and Network Strategy & Planning areas of Telecommunications since 1973, and has participated on many international telecoms development forums, including Eurescom Working Group on Multimedia, Dividend Race project for ISDN Collaborative Working, European ATM Working Group JAMES, EU Funded National Hosts Forum etc. He has headed the Marketing Working Group in FITCE since 2004.
Within Irish Telecoms, he has been working for Eircom the Irish Incumbent Telecoms Operator (formerly Telecom Eireann and Department of Post and Telegraphs) since 1973. He spent 9 years in Technical Business Development, and was responsible for the introduction of early Broadband and ATM into the Irish Network. He spent 5 years in Network Planning, where he spearheaded early ADSL development in the Irish Network. He has spent the last 7 years heading up Network Strategy and has brought Next Generation Networks from concept to reality. He has also headed up Eircoms interest in the National Development Plan in conjunction with the Irish Government Department of Communications.
He is currently Head of Network Strategy within Eircom. He is also President of FITCE (Federation of ICT Professionals in Europe), which has 1500 ICT professional members spread across 12 Countries in Europe.

Barry Reynolds is currently Head of Network Strategy within the Office of the CTO in Eircom, the Irish Incumbent Telecoms Operator. He has a BsC Degree in Physics and an MBA Degree from Fordham, New York. He has worked on many collaborative telecoms projects during his career, including work with Eurescom, Race, EU National Hosts, and the European ATM Working Group. In Eircom he has been responsible for pre-commercial introduction of ATM and DSL Broadband. Gee Rittenhouse is Vice President of Bell Labs Research, overseeing all Bell Labs
research centers and research activities. Prior to this he headed the Bell Labs'
Technology Integration Group, with the primary mission of taking Bell Labs research assets
and innovations and driving them, through development activities and project management,
into Alcatel-Lucent products and services. In this position Gee was closely connected with
all of Alcatel-Lucent's business divisions, interlocking their needs and strategies with Bell
Labs' research activities, priorities, and innovations areas.
Prior to heading up Technology Integration, Gee was Vice President, Bell Labs Wireless
Research. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of
California, Los Angeles in 1986. Then in 1993 he received his Master of Science and Ph.D.
degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. He joined Bell Laboratories as a member of technical staff in 1993 where he
worked on high-speed circuits using X-ray lithography for optical networking applications. He
later joined the Wireless Research Laboratory at Bell Laboratories where his research
focused on RF front-end radio architectures and cellular system engineering.
In 2000 he was promoted to Director of the Wireless Technology Research Department and
led several projects including MIMO system development, cellular network optimization,
wireless IP networks, and fourth generation wireless systems. In 2002 he received the Bell
Labs Fellow Award. He has numerous publications and patents in the areas of wireless
systems and circuits.
Gee is married with two small children and enjoys learning, basketball, running, and playing
jazz piano and drums.

Mitja Štular was born in 1970, in the city of Kranj. In 1994, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ljubljana. During same year he won a prestigious national student award for his research work in the field of mobile communications. In December 1994, he took the position of researcher and later, the position of teaching assistant at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Telecommunications. In 1997, he successfully defended his Master's thesis and, following this in 2000, his Ph. D. dissertation, both in the field of telecommunications. He began his career at Mobitel in 2001, commencing work as a consultant to the CEO and also as the UMTS project director. He has been involved in a variety of research and development projects in Slovenia and also abroad. Petra Wilson is a director in the Healthcare team of Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), focusing on helping healthcare providers and deciders develop their strategies and implementation plans for “Connected Health” information management and technology.
Previously, she was deputy director of the European Health Management Association (EHMA), a membership organisation committed to improving healthcare in Europe by raising standards of managerial performance in the health sector. At EHMA she had responsibility for the association’s Brussels’ office and, in particular, EHMA's relationship with the European Commission. In that role, Petra advised a wide number of European healthcare organisations on EU-level health policy and assisted them in engaging with policy-makers in the Commission.
Prior to EHMA, Petra worked for the European Commission in its eHealth Directorate. She worked specifically on the European eHealth Action Plan, which commits all member states of the European Union to adopt road maps for the implementation of Connected Health solutions. Petra also advised the Commission on legal and ethical issues surrounding use of information technologies in healthcare.
Alongside her role at Cisco Petra currently holds the chairmanship of the European Policy Workgroup of the Continua Health Alliance, as well as the chair of the Governing Council of Health Information and Management Systems Society Europe. She is also acts as an advisor to the Health on the Net Foundation.
Originally trained in law, Petra spent several years as a lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at Nottingham University, UK, specializing in healthcare law and European law. As C&W’s Chief Architect for Access Gavin is focused on the design and architecture of the national broadband network and the associated network products.
