Saab Systems, one of Australia’s top ten defence companies, has developed a low-cost Demand Side Management solution to summer blackouts caused by peak demand on hot days. The revolutionary Saab Direct Load Control System is designed around a small switching device fitted into home services such as air-conditioning, pool pumps and hot water systems. The switch receives commands via radio transmissions, allowing electricity distributors to remotely switch these services off for short periods during peak demand.
