Peter has a long established career in the hotels business, which included four years of lecturing on hotel management. In 1979, he co-founded Transact Hotel and Tourism Property in Australia, where through mergers, the firm expanded throughout Asia Pacific, North America and Europe, and ultimately merged and became JLW TransAct, part of Jones Lang Wootton (JLW). In 1999, with the merger of JLW and LaSalle Partners, the firm was rebranded as Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels and Mr Barge oversaw the expansion of this highly successful business, of which he is still Global Chairman today.
In 2001, he relocated to Chicago to run Jones Lang LaSalle’s corporate real estate business in the Americas. Peter had lived with his family in New York on two previous occasions. He returned to Asia Pacific in 2003 as the region’s Chief Executive Officer, where he oversaw a team of over 16,000 staff across 13 countries and 70 offices. Peter who has announced his retirement effective June 2010 is leading a number of strategic reviews for the Firm.
Peter is the author of “The Art of” series (now in their 10th re-print), covering hotel services and operations; and co-author of “International Hospitality Industry: Organisational and Operational Issues”. He also authored “The Little Book of Big Decisions”, published by Wiley and Sons in May 2005 and was the editor of another Wiley publication, “The Little Book of Real Estate Definitions Asia Pacific”, a tool widely used by real estate professionals across the region.
Peter is a sought-after presenter at high-level Asian business conferences. He is regularly quoted in Tier I media across Asia, and can be seen on television commenting on emerging Asian real estate trends, tourism, global outsourcing, and offshoring.

From 1992 until 2000, Michael was the Senior Asset Manager at Bankers Trust Australia, where he was responsible for the development and asset management of hotels, shopping centres, industrial buildings and office buildings. He was involved in the initial hostile takeover of the Grosvenor Trust in 1994 (BT Office Trust/Principal Office Trust) and the subsequent takeover of the Principal Office Trust upon joining Investa in 2003. His development projects include: 400 George Street and the PCA Award winning Deutsche Bank Place at 126 Phillip Street, Sydney.
In between the roles at BT and Investa, Michael worked at AMP as the Head of Co-Owned Commercial Asset Management before relocating to Hong Kong to work on the $5 Billion International Finance Centre project.
Michael has been with Investa for more than 6 years and as the Group Executive - Special Projects, has been responsible for major development projects, such as 126 Phillip Street and is also responsible for Investa’s capital transaction group. Earlier this year, he was a member of the Investa team which delivered Australia’s largest leasing transaction with Telstra, which comprised 125,000 m2 over 5 buildings.
Michael has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political science, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Urban Estate Management. He is a member of the Property Council’s Commercial Office Committee.

Peter joined Westpac Investment management in 1994, which later became a part of BT Financial Group. During his time with the group, Peter held senior analytical responsibility for the property, retail, insurance and infrastructure sectors. Peter has direct property experience; he represented BT Financial Group for five years as a non-executive director of a large direct property fund, the Industry Superannuation Property Trust.
Prior to BT, Peter had 10 years experience in financial markets, starting his career as a fixed income securities and foreign exchange dealer with Midland Montagu Australia and then moving to Daiwa Securities where he worked as an executive in the advisory area. These syndicates have a gross development value of $3 billion and make Peet Australia’s largest listed residential land syndicate. Paul began his career in 1995 age 20. Assisting a dynamic and young property developer and hotelier, Paul was exposed to real-estate development and the hotel business. This experience led to Paul's first hotel acquisition in 1996. The leasehold 16 room city centre boarding house was the beginning of a budget hotel business that by 1998 included backpacker hostels and boarding houses in five locations and over 500 beds throughout Sydney. In 2001 Paul sold the budget hotel business and acquired the development rights to a 70 room boutique hotel in the Sydney CBD. This hotel led to the establishment of Eight Hotels Australia in 2002, a boutique hotel company that as of 2009 includes 7 hotels in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Antony led the global expansion of Macquarie Capital Advisers’ real estate advisory and capital raising business growing to a team of real estate specialists located in Australasia, UK/Europe, North America (USA and Canada), Asia (HK/China, Japan, Singapore, India, Korea) and the Middle East.
Prior to joining Macquarie, Antony was with JPMorgan for more than nine years and oversaw the establishment and led its specialist real estate investment banking capability across the entire Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan).
EXPERIENCE
Antony has been involved in numerous real estate industry transforming transactions in both the Australasian and the Asian regions.
In Australasia, experience includes participation in many real estate REIT and developer IPOs and follow-on capital raisings, being highly active in REIT consolidation transactions including the mergers and takeovers of REITs, trade sales and transactions involving change of control of REIT managers.

RiskMetrics’ Head of ESG Asia Pacific, Mr Bill Hartnett, joined the company in 2009 after its acquisition of Innovest whom Bill joined in 2005 after having gained extensive experience in sustainable investment related research and product development as part of a 15 year career in the finance and investment industry.
From 1994 to 2000 Bill worked at Westpac Banking Corporation in corporate banking, strategy and funds management roles before specialising in the sustainable investment field. In 1999-2000 Bill worked on the product management and communication for the Westpac (now BT) Australian Eco Share Fund – the first ‘best of sector’ SRI fund offered to Australian superannuation funds.
From 2000 to 2003 Bill developed and was the Manager of the Challenger Socially Responsive Investment Fund (SRI Fund). The fund won the inaugural “Ethical Fund of the Year 2001” from Ethical Investor Magazine.
Bill’s qualifications include a Masters of Environmental Management from University of NSW (2004 for which he was awarded the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand Prize) and a Bachelor of Economic Degree (with double major in economics and sociology) from Macquarie University (1992).

Martin began his career as a site location specialist in retail real estate in California in 1983. After receiving his M.B.A. in 1990, he joined The O’Connor Group in Los Angeles and later in New York. He was involved in the launch of the Argo Funds, a joint venture with JP Morgan, which constituted one of the first U.S. real estate opportunity funds. In 1995, Martin joined the Morgan Stanley real estate funds as an acquisitions vice president, working in New York, Los Angeles, and London. In 2000, Martin joined the AIG Global Real Estate Group in New York as managing director and portfolio manager of the firm’s new Brownfields Investment Fund, targeting redevelopment opportunities in environmentally contaminated properties.
In 2006, Martin moved to Shanghai and joined a joint venture between Morgan Stanley, Gerrity International and the Shenzhen International Trust and Investment Co., Ltd. to manage the design, development and management of hypermarket-anchored shopping centers in second- and third-tier cities in China. As senior vice president, Martin founded the Shanghai office for this venture and recruited more than 80 professionals focused on marketing, leasing and operations.
