 Mr Basil Moftah,
Managing Director, Middle East & Africa Thomson Reuters With more than ten years experience at Thomson Reuters in sales and financial investments, Basil currently holds the post of Managing Director for the Middle East & Africa for Thomson Reuters, based in Dubai, UAE. Upon graduation from university, Basil joined Reuters through the European Graduate Program and began in the Client Training Department. Soon after he moved to Italy for a year, first Rome as a sales executive in risk management systems and then to Milan for an assignment in finance. The following two and a half years Basil spent between London and San Francisco working as an Investment Associate for Reuters Venture Capital Group, investing over $100 million across 16 companies. After which he took two years off to pursue a Master's degree and returned to London as Regional Head of Business Direct for EMEA. A post he held for four years during which Business Direct sales increased significantly. Basil is a frequent speaker at several international conferences, most recently MENA Private Equity Conference and the World Economic Forum in Egypt. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo and Master's degree in Business Administration from Harvard.
