Sustainable Development in Indigenous Communities, Remote Areas and Developing Countries
Social Performance is increasingly becoming a priority for developers and operators of major projects as international financial institutions, governments and host communities become more sensitive to the risks of misalignment of development goals, meeting human rights and unmet stakeholder expectations.
This pre conference workshop will take participants beyond the rhetoric to consider sustainable development from the perspective of the personal implications for Executives, the challenges in working in these environments, developing the appropriate context for decision making and working through the dilemmas.
With the insights of Sasha Pendall on Woodside Energy’s experience in remote Indigenous communities, Timor Leste and Mauritania through to vast experience of Dr Lynn Arnold (former Australian politician, CEO of Anglicare and board member Ahava Energy), this workshop’s focus on stories and experiences will enable participants to be active observers and participators.
When we think of Diamonds in Africa, Oil in Texas and even Gold in Kalgoorlie, resource development has changed and shaped these communities for ever, what story will your project tell in 20 years time?
