 Hon William Duma,
Petroleum and Energy Minister Papua New Guinea Government Mr. Duma was born at Bomrui Villiage, Mt. Hagen, and is married with 2 children.
He completed his primary school and high school education in Mt. Hagen before entering the University of PNG when the direct entry Preliminary Year Scheme at the University of PNG was still in place.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University of PNG and a Masters of Laws degree from the University of Sydney, Australia.
After graduating from University and gaining admission to practise as a lawyer before the National and Supreme Courts of PNG, he commenced private practice as a litigation lawyer with the multinational law firm, Blake Dawson Waldron in Port Moresby.
Mr. Duma became a Partner in Blake Dawson Waldron, and practised in insurance, shipping and commercial litigation in the National and Supreme Courts until he was elected to the National Parliament in July 2002.
Mr. Duma also served as a Director of PNG Harbours Board for 8 years and was Chairman of PNG Harbours Board until he was elected to the National Parliament.
Mr. Duma was Minister for Environment and Conservation in the PNG Government for 4 years from August 2003 to July 2007.
Mr. Duma is currently the Minister for Petroleum and Energy in the PNG Government responsible for oil and gas development, and is also the Parliamentary Leader of the United Resources Party in the Natonal Parliament.
