Syed Tariq Husain is the first CEO of Emirates Global Islamic Bank. As such he was largely instrumental at each stage, from obtaining a license to commencement of banking operations in February 2007. As a sponsor shareholder, he also had been involved in the establishment of Takaful Pakistan which commenced operations in March 2007.
Mr.Husain is a seasoned banker with 28 years of diversified local and international experience. He trained and worked initially with Chartered Accountancy firms Deloitte and Touché, Ernst & Young and PWC. His banking career started with ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1987 as Senior Auditor and later he rose to the position of Country Treasurer and Strategic Planning Manager.
In 1997, Mr.Husain was appointed as Head of Global Islamic Finance and Director Global Structured Finance by ANZ Investment Bank, London to develop Islamic Investment banking.
Prior to joining Emirates Global Islamic Bank, Mr.Husain worked with Dubai Investment Group, Dubai with responsibility for developing Islamic finance, Private Equity and Real Estate. He was instrumental in launching a listed Takaful company and establishing an Islamic European Property fund.
Mr.Husain is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan, Canada, England & Wales. He also obtained an MBA from York University, Canada.

Mian Muhammad Nazir
Mian Muhammad Nazir is working as Senior Vice President with Shari'a Structuring and Coordination Department (Dar Al Sharia) of Dubai Islamic Bank. Before joining Dubai Islamic Bank in 2005, he has been working as a Legal Advisor for Dallah Al Baraka Group, Saudi Arabia. He also worked with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority as Director, Law and Regulatory Affairs. Mian Nazir is an accomplished and renowned Shari'a lawyer in the field of Islamic banking and finance. Apart from having degrees in Shari'a and Law from International Islamic University, Pakistan, he also holds a master degree in commercial laws from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
He has the honour of working closely with Dr. Hussein Hamid Hassan for the last three years and has been involved in the structuring and documentation of various Shari'a compliant banking and finance products and transactions including Sukuks, Islamic funds, Islamic syndications (project finance), Islamic trusts, structured Islamic products, Islamic swaps and other Islamic corporate, retail and treasury products.

Amit has over 15 years of experience in areas of Financial Engineering, Product Structuring, Quantitative Risk Management, Analytical modeling, Systems, and Regulatory Compliance in Mutual Fund and Derivatives products in various Commercial and Investment Banks in Middle East and abroad.
He holds MS in Systems and Financial Engineering from University of California at Berkeley USA, a program ranked number one in the world by Global Derivatives. Further, he holds Financial Risk Manager, FRM certification from GARP USA and Project Management Professional, PMP certification from PMI USA.
He regularly teaches professional courses such as PRM, FRM and CFA, and technical courses such as VAR and Econometrics in Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance. He is a regular speaker on various risk management issues in several local and international forums like Bankers’ Society of Bahrain and Islamic Financial Intelligence Summit in London. His teaching and research interest revolve around areas of Valuation, Investments, Risk Management, Stochastic modeling and Numerical methods in finance.
