Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour
With its prime Sydney waterfront location and world-class facilities, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is Australia's largest and most successful venue for conferences, exhibitions and special events.
The purpose built centre opened in 1988 as the centrepiece of Sydney's beautiful Darling Harbour precinct, on the edge of the central business district. Blessed with multiple entertainment, transport and accommodation options, the Darling Harbour precinct includes fine restaurants, museums, a retail marketplace and outdoor entertainment venues. The precinct is thronged with visitors both local and international, drawn by the hundreds of events held here each year.
The precinct's proximity to Sydney's Central Business District also makes it an appealing venue. Only a five minute walk from the city centre, Darling Harbour is easily reached by water taxi, light rail, monorail, coach or car and boasts parking for more than 5000 vehicles as well as a public marina.
Some of the nation's leading tourist attractions - the National Maritime Museum, the Powerhouse Museum and the Sydney Aquarium - are nearby, while the magnificent Chinese Gardens provides a tranquil retreat.
Accommodation is plentiful, with more than 4000 rooms available at hotels and serviced apartments located in the precinct.
