 Mrs. Vicki Thomson,
Executive Director Australian Technology Network, Australia Vicki Thomson is the Executive Director of the Australian Technology Network, a coalition of five leading universities across Australia.
Her diverse background covers journalism, politics, issues management and the higher education sector. She has an extensive media, political and policy background, serving as Chief of Staff to the former Premier of South Australia.
Before this she was a senior adviser to the Premier, entering politics from a media background in newspaper, radio and television in Canberra, Western Australia and South Australia.
She is a member of various Committees in the areas of education, research and development, energy and engineering.
Her expertise and experience is related to developing policy outcomes which will benefit the Australian Higher Education sector to achieve world class status. She has a particular interest in developing a framework for the Australian Technology Network of Universities which differentiates those universities from their competitors in the Australian Higher Education sector. She is involved in developing strategies to ensure that diversity is a ‘real’ outcome as opposed to ‘perceived’.
As Executive Director of the ATN she is responsible for positioning the Network in the Australian higher education environment as a cohesive and authoritative voice in the tertiary sector. She has an extensive network of contacts at the most senior levels of Federal Government, industry, business and public service and has operated in the international environment. She is currently in the midst of completing her MBA at the University of South Australia.
