Mr. Grant Sutherland

Mr. Grant Sutherland,
CEO
Gordon Institute of Tafe, Australia

Grant Sutherland was appointed to the position of CEO for the Gordon Institute of TAFE in September 2006. Previously Grant was the Deputy CEO and his responsibilities at the Gordon Institute have included business development, financial management, quality assurance and strategic business planning. During this time at the Gordon there has been strong business growth and the Institute has expanded its operations nationally and internationally. Since his appointment as CEO of the Gordon Institute a new three year Strategic Plan has been launched which sets out the future directions of the Institute and the key actions required. These directions embrace the various Government reforms and meeting the needs of a regional economy in transition. Building on this strategic plan, in late 2007 Grant launched the Gordon 1-10 vision, for the Gordon Institute to be the number one Institute in Australia by 2010. Prior to joining the Gordon Institute, Grant was employed at Boeing Australia (Aircraft Systems Division) in several positions with key responsibilities of business development. Grant worked on a number of large proposals with global partners to secure long term projects for the company. These projects with the Australian Defence Force include Lead-In Fighter, F/A-18 Hornet Upgrade, Airborne Early Warning Control System (AEWC), P3C Orion Upgrade and he spent considerable time working with consortium partners in USA, Italy and Israel. Grant has extensive experience as a Director at Board level and the following is a summary of his current and recent appointments: • Geelong Chamber of Commerce (President) • Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Past Chairman and current Deputy Chair, Regional Business Council) • Committee for Geelong • Barwon Health Foundation • Geelong Development Board • Geelong Area Consultative Committee • Geelong Manufacturing Council • Smart Geelong Network • Bio Technology Geelong • Geelong Business Network • Deakin University Advisory Board • G21 Board
