Head of Product Marketing,
Rackspace
Simon Abrahams is Head of Product Marketing for Rackspace EMEA, with ownership of the EMEA product strategy, market positioning, and delivery of all new products. In this role Simon is responsible for aligning Rackspace’s product innovation initiatives with the needs of European customers, as part of Rackspace’s Fanatical Support commitment.
Prior to Rackspace, Simon held product management and marketing roles in the Hosting divisions of COLT, Orange Business Services, and Infonet. In these positions Simon worked closely with customers to resolve business problems though innovative IT and high-performance networking.
Simon has also held Sales and Operations positions with AT&T and worked for several years as an International Marketing Consultant in B2B communications and IT services. Simon holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering and a Masters degree in Marketing.

IT Director,
Home Delivery Network
Chris Airey joined Home Delivery Network Limited (HDNL) in June 2007 to take up the position of IT Director. His specialist knowledge of creating and running the consulting front end of service providers is being utilised to develop and drive the business’ IT systems ensuring it remains at the forefront of the express deliveries industry.
Chris’ role as IT Director at HDNL involves everything from developing operational support technology through to enhancing capability to work on technology enabled projects with the IT departments within a client's organisation. He is also actively involved in developing relationships with clients in order to successfully integrate IT systems.
Prior to joining HDNL, Chris was the Group Director of IT Systems for international print and data services firm RR Donnelly covering Europe. Before this, he was on the board of the consulting division of Vertex, responsible for the front-end of engagement, solution design and overall IT strategy.
Chris also has two degrees; a BEng (Hons) in Information Systems Engineering and an MBA.

Eric Auchard coordinates Reuters' technology news coverage, worldwide. He works both as a reporter and editor. The job requires pulling together a network of more than 200 reporters and editors from Helsinki to Melbourne to Abidjan who write and produce tech, media, telecom and science news. Auchard has built an internal, Web-based system that allows reporters to share information and communicate with one another efficiently and around the clock. He grew up in what we now call Silicon Valley but was once known as a tentacle of something called the military-industrial complex. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and Birmingham University in England, where he studied history and journalism. Auchard began covering politics for Reuters in 1992, and switched to technology writing in 1993. He has covered the rise of the Internet and technology industries ranging from semiconductors to software to mobile communications.

Working for over 14 years in information technology, he has 10 years more experience in information security and has spent the last 3 years specialising in Information Security Management. Peter’s expertise covers penetration testing, web application assessment, enterprise risk management and information security business development. A trusted advisor to a number of UK organisations on Information Security, he is also a frequent speaker at Information Security events throughout Europe. Having acquired Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) status, Peter went on to have Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) status awarded to him by the British Computer Society.

Mark Beaumont is group manager of product management/development and marketing for the international IT Solutions portfolio at Verizon Business. He leads an international team providing data centre services, managed hosting, application Management and IT solutions to customers operating in sectors including education, government, finance, retail, and manufacturing. The solutions enable large enterprise customers to enter new markets and compete in a global world, supported by a hosted, IP-enabled network. Beaumont’s role includes instigating new hosting and managed hosting solutions and services, reviewing existing solutions, cloud services and expanding the data center capabilities outside the U.S.
Beaumont brings several years experience in managing cross-functional teams to this role. Prior to this, between November 2006 and January 2008, he worked as product manager for the company’s International Data Centers and IT Services group. In this role, he was responsible for the complete service delivery of customer solutions, ranging from contract generation, implementation, and 24x7 support to service level agreement reviews, benchmarking, competitor analysis, and business case proposals. He also managed third-party providers.
Prior to this, between July 2002 and November 2006, Beaumont worked as general manager of managed hosting in the U.K. In this role, he had profit and loss responsibility for the European business unit, and led a team of more than 50 personnel from functions including sales, procurement, billing, accounting and finance as well as logistics, facilities, security, information systems and technology, and human resources. This role included assessing business case proposals needing capital investment approval to ensure the designs could be scaled in line with customer needs.
Prior to this, between May 2000 and July 2002, Beaumont worked as procurement and logistics manager for Digex, which was later acquired by MCI. In this role, he was responsible for assessing the effects of a changing marketplace environment, for generating the annual budget, and providing supporting performance metrics. He was also responsible for escalating faults and resolving disputes, both technical and commercial.
Before joining the company, Beaumont worked as lead commercial specialist for Bechtel, a large U.S. engineering company.

Stephen Bonner is Barclays Head of Information Risk Management (IRM).
Based in London, he is responsible for managing the global information risk team that safeguard the integrity and security of Barclays information, infrastructure and applications by identifying, managing and leading, either directly or through partnerships, all aspects of Information Risk.
Mr. Bonner joined Barclays, initially within Barclays Capital, from September 2003 from LIFFE, where he was Information Security Manager responsible for protecting transactions worth $12 trillion per month.
Prior to LIFFE, Mr. Bonner worked during the 90’s at various City investment banks as a contractor and prior to that was Operations Manager of Virgin Net. He started his career in the Maths Department of Oxford University, moving to UKERNA to help run the UK academic Internet.
Mr. Bonner has held CISSP, CLAS and SANS GIAC certifications and is a member of the British Computer Society and a founder associate member of the Institute of Information Security Professionals. He was founder and chair of the UK Internet Security Systems user group, a previous secretary of the London Investment Banking Special Interest Group on Information Security and was chair of the UK National Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre Financial Services Information Exchange. He is a judge at the Global Security Challenge and the SC Magazine awards. He serves as a committee member for the Whitehat charity ball in aid of Childline.
He led the SC Magazine “Best Security Team” 2006, won the Information Security Magazine “Security Seven” award 2006, was a finalist in the SC Magazine “CSO of the Year” 2007 award, won the ISE UK and Ireland “Information Security Project of the Year” award 2008 and led SC Magazine “Information Security Team of the Year” 2009 and is SC Magazine “Information Security Person of the Year” 2009

Joseph Crawford is the executive director of the IT Solutions product portfolio for Verizon Business. Crawford has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at Verizon Business and its predecessor companies, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the design, development and deployment of cost-effective, high performance operations management and IT solutions management.
In his current role, Crawford leads the Hosting, Colocation, Remote Application Management, Data Center Outsourcing and Help Desk products.
Before his current assignment, Crawford was assistant vice president of engineering for MCI, where he was responsible for establishing a roadmap and the global delivery of strategic IT services and enterprise applications. He led the development of the Web-based customer portal that continues to be used by Verizon Business today. Crawford also directed the design, development and testing of IT products, business solutions and enterprise architecture at MCI, including the creation of operational policy and procedures used across the IT Solutions product line.
Prior to his work at MCI, Crawford founded the IT engineering organization at Digex, now part of Verizon Business. He was also named senior director of engineering at Digex, where he led a San Jose, Calif., service delivery organization responsible for the delivery of IT Services to Managed Hosting customers.
Crawford holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and has advanced training from Harvard Business School Executive Education, University of Michigan Business School Executive Education and the Center for Creative Leadership.

After working in administration at A&O, Janet set up a specialist consultancy practice looking at technology services (in their widest sense) for legal firms. She joined BLP about 12 years ago – initially as a consultant but later as their IT Director with a wide range of responsibilities. She normally says ‘if it plugs into an electric socket and does not make coffee it belongs to me!’ She is responsible for technology in its broadest sense, including ecommerce activities, knowledge management services and the building and infrastructure. In 2005 Janet won the BCS award for IT Director of the Year. The team have won many awards including Computing magazine’s Best Places to work in IT in 2007. Janet won IT Director of the Year at the Lawyers awards in 2008 and at the 2009 Legal Technology Awards Janet won the City/national - IT Director of the Year.
Janet established The Adelaide Group a women in business networking group in 1997 - the first speaker and honorary President is Cherie Blair. The group now has over 800 members and holds regular events listening to high profile women speakers.
Janet is a member of the London First advisory board, and under their auspices also mentors a senior policeman. She is a governor of local preparatory school. She is the Regional Vice President of the International Legal Technology Association for the EMEA region.

As of 1st July 2007, Neil Holloway took on an important new role as Vice President Business Strategy for Microsoft International reporting to Jean-Philippe Courtois, President Microsoft International. In this new position he will be leading several key 3 year business strategies for Microsoft Corporation focused on growth and customer experience. Neil remains a member of the worldwide Sales, Marketing and Services Group (SMSG) Leadership Team and the worldwide Consumer Leadership Team (CLT).
From 2005-2007 Neil was President of Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and was responsible for leading Microsoft Corp.’s business throughout EMEA. He focused on the balanced objectives of driving customer satisfaction, improving integration across Microsoft business units, addressing the unique technology needs of diverse markets, and growing the software business in the region.
Before assuming the president’s role in 2005, Holloway served as Corporate Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Services for EMEA, and has extensive field expertise establishing programmes that directly address customer and partner needs in the region. His role included leading the business planning processes, enhancing field effectiveness and managing Microsoft’s sales and marketing efforts across the EMEA region.
Since joining Microsoft in 1990, Holloway has held a number of strategic roles in its UK subsidiary. He was appointed managing director of Microsoft Ltd. in July 1998 and subsequently was appointed vice president of Microsoft EMEA in April 2000.
Holloway has an MPhil in Operational Research and Control Engineering from Cambridge University and a BSc Hon. in Mathematics from the University of Bath. His hobbies are football, swimming, playing golf and spending time with his family.

Douglas Menefee, a Gulf War veteran, has been involved with technology since the early 90’s. In 1994 Menefee resigned from the University of Louisiana to become a pioneer in the Internet economy by co-founding Planet Symphony, a website creation and interactive marketing management company. The company gained national attention in 1995 when it staged the first ever Internet video broadcast of Mardi Gras. To capitalize on the dotcom boom, Planet Symphony split into two distinct entities: Planet Symphony, which was acquired by the Graham Group in December 1995 and StarSeed, which was acquired by Geocities/Yahoo in December 1998.
Keeping his roots in Louisiana, Menefee remained with The Graham Group leading the convergence of interactive and traditional media until 2001 when he transitioned back into an entrepreneurial role by co-founding Menefee INSIGHT and Yadacast. In 2005, Menefee joined The Schumacher Group as their Chief Information Officer. Since joining The Schumacher Group he has led the deployment of a multimillion dollar technology initiative to upgrade and/or replace every enterprise system.
Menefee is a recognized military, business, and community leader. During Desert Storm his most notable recognition was an Air Medal for a life saving mission as a flight medic. He has been recognized as the Rising Young Business Leader of the Year and one of Acadiana’s “most important people”. Additionally, he has received the Innovator of the Year award from the Governor of Louisiana twice, once in 2003 as an individual, and then again in 2006 on behalf of The Schumacher Group. Before joining Deutsche Telekom, Margaret spent over 10 years with Telstra, the Australian telecommunications company holding various positions in both domestic and international divisions based in Sydney. After a few years managing relations with carriers in the Americas region, Margaret represented Telstra’s major region in Southeast Asia as the Carrier Relations Manager based in Kuala Lumpur. Margaret holds a Masters in Management degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Kjell holds a degree in mathematics, statistics and computer science and started his career working as a medical research statistician at a University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. Antonio started his career in the satellite space, leading TDMA development for INTELSAT. Following a decade in the Internet space, he was made a member of The Society of Industry Professionals.

Previously he was Vice President, Connectivity. In this role he was responsible for GSK's Voice, Collaboration, Conferencing and B2B infrastructure. Alastair originally joined SmithKline Beecham in 1997 and then moved to Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in 2000. He joined GlaxoSmithKline in 2003, where he has held various positions prior to his current role.

Role in SHL: Andy is Chief Information and Technology Officer and leads the directorate responsible for designing, building and delivering the advanced web technology, customer data and business support systems which SHL deploys across the globe. It is his responsibility to ensure that SHL’s systems are fit-for-purpose and provide value-for-money. SHL makes extensive use of outsourcing to achieve both those objectives and Andy is responsible for controlling and overseeing the outsource contracts.
Career History: Andy Ross is a highly experienced Managing Director and CIO/CTO with a track-record of delivering results in highly-visible roles across multiple sectors in the US, UK and Internationally.
He has extensive eCommerce experience: as Director of Internet & eCommerce for the Royal Bank of Scotland, Andy led the bank’s centre of expertise and was responsible for the retail internet channel, launching NatWest.Com in 1999; and for developing a portfolio of innovative eCommerce businesses. He has also been closely associated with the UK eCommerce Awards from their inception, in 2004 receiving a personal award from the then Minister for eCommerce for his contribution.
An engineer by training, Andy completed his Ph.D. in 1979 and started his business career as a systems engineer with IBM. He has subsequently held senior technology roles in within Citibank, Reuters, & CSFB. He has broad business experience as a management consultant with Gemini Consulting and as Organisation Development & Systems Director for the Mercury division of Cable & Wireless. In 2005, he was appointed a “Heavy Hitter” for the UK Government Cabinet Office focussing on high risk government IT programmes.
Andy is also an experienced Board Member and Chairman of small technology related companies.

He graduated from Oxford University with a Masters degree in Materials Science & Economics and then went into banking with Barclays Bank. Following a brief spell in commercial lending he moved into business and IT systems design and then into IT account management. Jonathon then joined PA Consulting where he advised international clients on ITIL and credit card system implementations. His current challenge is to optimise the value of KCOMs data centres for internal and external use and he is currently overseeing the refurbishment and expansion of two data centres.

Eli Lilly
Caroline Serfass was appointed as CIO, European Operations at Eli Lilly and Company in 2004 and led a major transformation where a regional/global structure was built around common processes and essential services were outsourced. In 2008 she took over additional responsibility for the IT Delivery of Eli Lilly’s global CRM programme. She is a member of Eli Lilly’s European senior management team and plays a key role in business transformation and in changing the profile of IT from service provider to business partner.
A native of Strasbourg, France, where she joined Eli Lilly in 1990, Serfass’s 20 year career at the pharmaceutical group exposed her to several functions, with roles ranging from internal audit manager to IT Director for Manufacturing Europe, with a few years in manufacturing as Supply Director and then Insulin Supply Chain Director at Lilly’s manufacturing site in Strasbourg.
She became Eli Lilly’s UK IT director in 2001, where she and her team won the “best company to work for in IT” Computer Weekly award.
Serfass studied engineering at Ecole Centrale in France and has an MA in Robotics from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada.
She started her career as the first IT manager of a small mining company in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1988.

As the CIO for General Motors UK & Ireland, Pamal Sharma has multi-brand responsibility for all aspects of IT and Telecommunications for GM’s largest market in Europe and their 4th largest globally. Whilst GM is his first Automotive sector employer, Sharma has spent his entire career in the commercial arena in both manufacturing and service industries.
Prior to the role at GM, he was the Group CIO with global responsibility for a market leader in the printing machine industry, manufacturing leading edge systems and allied services for the electronics and other high technology OEMs. Sharma has a technical academic background with Bachelors, Masters and a 3M, USA, sponsored Doctorate in Physics. He also holds professional qualification as a Chartered Engineer (CEng, CEEng) and a Chartered Physicist (CPhys).
Attracted enthusiastically to the commercial environment, his technical knowledge grew through an initial focus on a technical IT career, working always for global sector leaders. Over half of his 20+ year career has been in management culminating in the current role at GM. He has a pragmatic and optimistic outlook in both work and private life, enjoying both to the full.
When not working, he has a spectator interest in Motor Sport as well as various “social” participatory sports such as Badminton. He also enjoys community and charitable work as a St John Ambulance volunteer and as a registered active mentor with the IEE, mentoring members of the Institution at all levels. When asked of his greatest achievement to date, he says that it is knowing he has always tried to be fair in business and private life and helped those he could, whilst recognising that his own achievements have been greatly aided by the pleasure of working with excellent people in world leading organisations like GM.

The role includes overseeing over 3,000 customers across Europe and his vision as managing director is to drive the company towards its goal of being the first choice provider of information availability solutions.
Keith joined SunGard in November 2001 when it acquired Comdisco. Prior to that, he worked for Failsafe Roc Ltd., Istel and Rover Cars – progressing from the IT department to operations manager then moving into various commercial and product management roles.
Initially working as Business Development Director in the UK for FailSafe ROC, Keith has held roles in Marketing, Business Development and Service Delivery before becoming MD for Comdisco’s UK and European operations. During this time Keith managed the expansion of the business from a single line in only two locations, to multiple platforms and services including high availability and Web services across almost thirty facilities throughout Europe.
He believes success and growth in any business stems from its two most important assets, namely staff and customers. Keith is widely quoted on Information Availability matters in business, national and trade press, such as the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal Europe, Computing and IT Week. He has also appeared on the BBC’s Business Breakfast, Sky News and Meridian TV as well as BBC Radio 4’s The Bottom Line.
