Throughout his career John has worked extensively with publicly listed companies and has a broad range of experience relevant to large, multinational companies in the Consumer and Industrial Products sectors. John has 28 years of experience with PwC and has been a Partner for 16 years. After joining PwC in Montreal, Canada, John spent three years in London, UK before returning to Montreal. He joined the Moscow, Russia office of PwC in April 2008. John’s experience covers principally metals and mining companies, but also consumer, transportation, electronics and forest products companies. He has assisted his clients with many complex transactions including conversions in accounting principles, public offerings and various financial reporting issues. John is a graduate of Trinity College, University of Toronto (B.A., 1978) and McGill University (Diploma in Public Accountancy, 1982). Mr. Djumanov has over 13 years of investment management, investment banking, and advisory experience in emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasian countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Mongolia. He has worked in major international financial centers such as New York, London and Zurich. Mr. Djumanov is Chairman of Eurasia Capital Group, a Singapore-based holding group with extensive investments in Central Asia. He leads Eurasia Capital Management, investment management firm with offices in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Ulaanbataar, Mongolia that manages a number of investment funds focused on investments in Central Asia, Mongolia, Russia and China. He was Vice President of Auerbach Grayson & Co., a brokerage house in New York advising US institutional investors on portfolio investments in emerging markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He was Head of Corporate Finance in Central Asia and the Caucasus at Ernst & Young as well as investment banker at Renaissance Capital in Moscow and Credit Suisse First Boston in Zurich and London. Mr. Djumanov received his Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Oxford University.
Mr Eric Finlayson,

Eric graduated in 1982 with a degree in Applied Geology from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. After work as an exploration geologist in Ireland and Turkey with NL Petroleum Services and as a field geochemist in Malawi with the British Civil Uranium Procurement Organisation, he joined the Geological Survey of PNG in 1984 as a regional geological mapper. Following five years of mapping in the Sepik River headwaters and on Bougainville Island, he joined Rio Tinto as project geologist responsible for copper and gold exploration in the PNG highlands based out of Sydney. In 1993 he was transferred to Vancouver as regional exploration manager for Western Canada and then in 2000 to London as the personal assistant to the Head of Exploration. In January of 2002, he moved to Perth to assume the role of Director of Exploration for Australasia and in January of 2007 was appointed Head of Exploration for Rio Tinto based in London.

Well known international financier Robert Friedland is in the vanguard of North American natural-resource sector leaders who have pioneered business links in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region during the past 20 years. Mr. Friedland is Chairman of Ivanhoe Capital Corporation, his family’s private company that specializes in venture capital and project financing from bases in Singapore and Beijing. With his leadership, Ivanhoe executives and affiliated benefiting companies have raised several billion dollars on international capital markets since 1993. Mr. Friedland holds U.S. and Canadian citizenships and resides in Singapore. Mr. Friedland also is co-founder and Deputy Chairman, Capital Markets, of oil and gas producer Ivanhoe Energy and Co-Chairman of its China operating subsidiary, Sunwing Energy. He was named the “2006 Mining Person of the Year” by Canada’s Northern Miner, a leading industry publication, for his coup in gaining global mining leader Rio Tinto plc as a partner for Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. in Mongolia. The Northern Miner said the 2006 partnership was “a defining moment in one of the world’s biggest mineral-development success stories of the past decade.” It described Mr. Friedland as “a dynamic force for a quarter-century in the minerals industry through a host of private and public-company vehicles.” He is founder and Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines — a Canadian public company whose shares trade on the New York, NASDAQ and Toronto exchanges. Ivanhoe’s core asset is the 20-kilometre-long (12-mile) chain of copper-gold discoveries at Oyu Tolgoi in southern Mongolia —the world’s largest and highest-grade copper-gold mine development project. Ivanhoe Mines owns 84% of SouthGobi Energy Resources, which is planning to begin coal production in the third quarter of 2008 at its Ovoot Tolgoi discoveries in southern Mongolia. In 1996, Mr. Friedland was named Developer of the Year by the Prospectors’ and Developers’ Association of Canada for his work in establishing and financing companies engaged in mineral exploration and development around the world. Mr. Friedland guided the development and sale of Diamond Fields Resources’ nickel discovery at Voisey’s Bay in Newfoundland, Canada, to INCO Ltd. for CDN$4.3 billion in 1996. He also led the discovery and sale of Fairbanks Gold’s Fort Knox deposit in Alaska to Amax Gold for US$152 million in 1992.

Tim Gitzel is senior vice-president and chief operating officer of Cameco Corporation, one of the world’s largest uranium producers and a growing nuclear energy company. Tim has extensive experience in Canadian and international uranium mining activities. Prior to joining Cameco, he was executive vice-president, mining business unit for AREVA based in Paris, France with responsibility for global uranium, gold, exploration and decommissioning operations in11 countries around the world. He has served as senior ministerial assistant and chief of staff to the Saskatchewan deputy premier and minister of economic development from January 1992 to August 1993 and practiced as a lawyer with a Saskatchewan firm from April 1990 to December 1991. Tim served on the boards of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of Saskatchewan and is a current co-chair of the Royal Care campaign raising funds for Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He is the past president of the Saskatchewan Mining Association.

Tim leads PwC’s global mining industry initiatives. His team consists of partners and staff in all mining countries and Tim connects clients with people with local mining knowledge for many mining companies. Tim is responsible for determining and implementing PwC’s mining strategy. This includes determining publication needs and Tim initiated the Mine series, Mining Deals and the Global Mine Bulletin. Throughout his career Tim has focussed on the mining industry and has provided services to many mining companies including majors such as BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto. Tim has also provided services to medium-sized miners and juniors. Tim leads a team that assists Chinese companies acquiring mining assets in Australia – this work includes reviews of financial models, due diligence and tax structuring advice. Tim spends about 13 weeks a year in China meeting with executives of mining and metals companies that want to invest offshore. Tim is abreast of accounting issues facing the mining sector and is one of the leaders in this area and represents PwC on the IASB global project on the industry.

Michael Green is a Senior Banker in the Natural Resources Team of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Michael commenced his career with NatWest Markets, where he worked for eight years including a period from 1995 to 1998 as the Deputy Head of the bank's Moscow office. In 2001 he joined Mizuho Corporate Bank, where he was responsible for the bank's leading role in the BTC and Sakhalin II project financings and its relationships with the Russian oil and gas majors. Since joining the EBRD in 2006 Michael has become increasingly involved in the mining sector. He is currently actively working on gold, copper, nickel, zinc and coal projects in a number of the EBRD's coutries of operation including Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria and Albania. Michael has a degree in Russian Studies from the University of Leeds and an MBA from INSEAD.

In 1994, he took over management of the sales office for southern Bavaria. In 1998, he was appointed Managing Director of Südbayerisches Portland-Zementwerk Gebr. Wiesbock in Rohrdorf. In July 2000, he was appointed to the Managing Board with regional responsibility for Central Europe West. Mr Kurmanaliyev has completed his higher education at Frunze Polytechnical Institute as a mining engineering geologist. He continued his postgraduate study at the same Institute to become a scientist and researcher in Geological Sciences. He spent a number of years in Kumtor geological prospecting party starting as a geologist and growing to become a Head of the party. Since 1991 Kapar Z. Kurmanaliyev was a director of a number of successful business ventures including private enterprises, joint venture companies and production plants. In January 2008, with about 20 years of experience in mineral resources, he was appointed a Director of State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources at the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

His experience in the corporate offices, and on operating sites, of a number of major mining companies, has mainly been in the uranium, gold and copper/nickel businesses. He lives in Vancouver Canada with his wife and their pet cats and poodle from the Kyrgyz Republic.

Donald Nicholson II is Regional Director of SEAF’s Central Asia Small Enterprise Fund (CASEF), a joint undertaking between SEAF, Seco of Switzerland, USAID, the International Finance Corporation of The World Bank Group, and the National Innovation Fund of Kazakhstan. CASEF provides venture capital funding to small and medium-sized enterprises throughout Central Asia. Don Nicholson has been living in Central Asia for the past ten years, first as investment banker to the governments of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, then as President and CEO of the Central Asian-American Enterprise Fund, and now with SEAF. Before moving to Central Asia he was an investment banker/venture capitalist with more than thirty-five years of experience dealing with the emerging markets of Latin America and Southeast Asia. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and of IMEDE/IMS (Switzerland).

Mr. Patel is based in Almaty and is overall Chief Investment Officer and is also responsible for Public Equity investment strategy at Compass Asset Management. Atul has over 22 years of experience of international financial markets having gained a comprehensive background in investment management that combines fundamental bottom up stock selection with strategy formulation and managing money for both institutional and retail clients around the world. During his career Atul has worked at Shearson Lehman Global Asset Management, Gartmore, Bankers Trust, F&C Investment Management and Daiwa SB Investments all based in London. At F&C, where Atul spent over ten years, he built up a specialist global equity business with $3.5bn under management. He then moved on to head up international equities where he was responsible for over 10% ~ $6bn of total equity assets at F&C. Atul managed a 1st quartile, Micropal ranking global equity fund that outperformed the MSCI World Index by 4% pa. Atul investment style is very much orientated towards absolute returns and at F&C he developed a long only absolute return fund. Atul has an MBA from Warwick Business School in 1990 and a BSC Hons degree in Mathematics from Brunel University in West London in 1986.

Richard Tory is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in London. He runs the EMEA Metals & Mining team. Mr. Tory joined Credit Suisse in July 2007 from Lehman Brothers where he was a Managing Director and Head of Global Metals and Mining. Previously, Mr. Tory worked at Citigroup for five years as an M&A banker and, most recently, as Co-Head of European Metals and Mining. Prior to embarking on his banking career, Mr. Tory was a partner at Torys, a leading Canadian law firm. He also spent a year seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission and eighteen months seconded to Allen & Overy in London. Mr. Tory has advised many of the leading global metals and mining companies on a variety of strategic and capital markets transactions. Mr. Tory holds a B.A. (Hons) degree from Trinity College, University of Toronto and an LL.B. from Queen's University, Canada.

Chairman of the State Committee on Geology and Subsoil Use of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Reoublic of Kazakhstan; was born on 26 October 1955. In 1978 finished Kazakhskiy Polytechnic Institute and gained qualification Mining Engineer – Geologist. Business activity of B. S. Uzhkenov since its beginning till 1995 in general was connected to Prikaspiyskaya oil prospecting expedition, Prospecting and survey expedition of PGO “Yuzhkazgeology”, Kazakhstani exploration and mining expedition GlavKGU, Geological and mining enterprise “Kazmineral”, PGO “Yuzhkazgeology” where he occupied executive and management positions. Since 1995 until nowadays B. S. Uzhkenov is involved in organization of different levels of work of geological sector of Kazakhstan. In 1995-1997 he was Head of Main Administration of mineral resources «Kazgosnedra» of the Ministry of Geology and subsoil protection, since 1997 – Deputy Chairman, then – Chairman of the Committee on Geology and environmental protection of the RK. In August 1999 Mr Uzhkenov was appointed Vice-Minister of natural resources and environmental protection. Since January 2001 due to transfer of the Committee of Geology and subsoil protection to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the RK he is again appointed a Chairman of the Committee and serving at this position until now contributing all his energy and experience into development of geological sector, strengthening geological community and mentoring the next generation of geologists. B. Uzhkenov successfully combines administrative, industrial and scientific activity. In 1997 he became a Candidate of Sciences and in 2002 – a Doctor of Sciences (PhD) and was also elected as an academic of the Academy of Mineral Resources of the RK. B. S. Uzhkenov is an author and co-author of 10 monographs and of approx. 100 scientific articles. B/ S Uzhkenov was awarded with medal «Astana» (1999) and commemorative medal in honour of 10 years of independence of Kazakhstan (2001) for successful professional activity.
Mr Felix Vulis,

Mr. Vulis is President of ENRC Kazakhstan and COO of ENRC plc, and is responsible for overlooking and supervising ENRC’s operations in Kazakhstan. Since 2001 Felix acted as Vice President of Eurasian Industrial Association and in 2005 became its First Vice President. Prior to that, he worked as President of UNICHEM, K, LLC, President of Markfel Realty and Property Management, and President and CEO of AGC Group Inc., where he was responsible for strengthening and supporting business relations between the republics of the former Soviet Union (later CIS) and the USA. From 2002, alongside his main professional duties, Mr. Vulis is acting as the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Investors’ Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and until December 2007 he was the co-Chairman of the Working Group on the Council’s ongoing activities. Felix Vulis was born on October 11, 1955 in Ukraine. He holds Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and Financing and is currently completing an MBA at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Felix speaks fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian. In 2007 Mr.Vulis was honored by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Kurmet award for his contribution into the social and economic development of Kazakhstan.

Mr. Wermert is presently a Country Director for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Kazakhstan. Previously, he was Senior Structured Finance Specialist with the ADB’s Private Sector Infrastructure Finance Group where he led the debt arranging team for the South Sumatra to West Java Phase 2 Gas pipeline project. Prior to joining ADB in June 2003, he worked for 12 years in the Asia-wide limited recourse project finance industry in Singapore as Director at BNP Paribas and as an Associate Director at Deutsche Bank. During this time, he led financial advisory and debt arranging teams for private sector infrastructure projects in the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, water and transportation sectors. From 1983 to 1991, Mr. Wermert worked in the municipal bond origination teams of Northern Trust and Kane, McKenna and Associates in the Chicago area. He holds a Masters in Public Policy from the Harris School of University of Chicago and a B.A. from Columbia University in New York.
